Bush is a lot more convincing than they were. Bush is not afraid to talk about his faith where they were more "religious" in a general sense. Besides that Clinton is pro choice so I can not imagine that God would hear his prayers.

I saw on a documentary that said Clinton asked his pastor if pro-choice was wrong in God's eyes. His pastor said it wasn't.

Not that I think that's an excuse. Anyone who reads the Bible for themselves should be able to figure out God's position on the issue.

Well, it's a good thing Bush wears his religion on his sleeve so we're all convinced. Jesus spoke highly of the folks that acted like that in public.

There's a difference between sharing one's faith and religious grandstanding. The former is not only okay, but commanded. The latter is not okay.

And I'm guessing we disagree on where Bush falls in your first statement. :) I'm not too fond of blaring the name Jesus enough to get elected.

As for Carter, he's done more on behalf of his faith in half a life than Bush could ever do with the rest of his. No way anyone can convince me otherwise.

Not necessarily. I can't see into the man's heart, so I don't know for sure what his intentions are. But the feel I get from him isn't that he's trying to impress people with religion. My impression is that he's just trying to be who he is.

    Nor am I.

President Carter did more good out of office than he did in it. As far as I'm concerned, the jury's still out on George W. Bush.

Carter was a terrible president. His policies had inflation going thru the roof and the Russians growing ever bolder and stronger. I really think if he had beaten Reagan that we would be in really bad shape today.

After he left office he helped broker that niave deal with North Korea that Clinton sign that led to them being a nuclear power.

He may have done some good on a personal level and with charities but as a world leader he is a failure.

You can judge whether a person is a christian more accurately by looking at his actions. I do not need to catalogue the reasons to think Clinton was either not a christian or if he was not close enough to God to think any prayers he had for guidance got past the ceiling. I think Bush has done everything he can to do right by america. Despiste the left wing kook jobs trying to smear him I still believe that.

The difference between you and I is that I can view Carter as a failure as a President and still realize he's crapped bigger than GWB when it comes to defining one's self as a man of faith through his own personal actions - not by how he "does right by America" in conjunction with my own personal political views. Doing "right by America" may not be the same thing - and often may not be.
