Jesus studied buddhism in India and studied with Celtic Druids in England?

I love shows like this. So much of what they said seems very plausible. John the Baptist's more prevalant role and the assertion that Jesus had no desire to start a new faith because he was a Jew was very interesting.

There many theories like this. Look hard enough and you can find books about Jesus going as far East as Tibet. These books fall in line with the thinking that Christ's message had a deeper, hidden double meaning for those with the insight to find it, a far cry from the literal hardline interpretations some take in America.

I want to read more about this stuff. Was he the man known by the Tibetan monks as "Issus" (sp?)

I'll get roasted for saying it, but frankly, I'm more intrigued by the stories that humanize Christ rather than the ones that deify him. Which is more profound: a deity walking the earth, working miracles in a big show of power, and dictating morality from a plane of existence that we can't understand, or the humble humanist who absorbed the common truths about how to be a human from the buddhists, jews and druids; truths so undeniable that the religion they created has permeated and proliferated in far off societies and cultures 2,000 years later?

I guess I'm saying that I don't need "the lightshow" or a "divine prophet" to understand truth & the human condition. Those things hold enough weight on their own. And I do find these types of interpretations more plausible.

BTW- I was doing some reading to follow up on the ideas, and I've already come across the misinterpretation of his profession that the show mentioned. The correct translation appears to be "stonemason", not "carpenter". Interesting. Is it possible that Christianity's savior was a humble bricklayer moving from town to town for work?

I don't mean this as a slam, but I see how a guy named Jesus could start his own religion even if he didn't mean to. Look at how people are in politics these days. Bush is idolized and even considered to be the "greatest" president ever. Myths and legends are created by men. It's just as possible that a savior could have been created the same way.

Except there are writings about Jesus from as early as 60 years after his death that pretty much confirm the history we know today.

To me if you accept that Jesus is God then you have to accept that he has guided the bible to be what it is today. I can not believe that God would not keep his hand on his word so that everyone can read it and get his message.

Nowhere in the bible does it mention Jesus studying Buddhism or with Druids.

You can twist things any way you want but if Jesus had been a budhist then I think God would make sure that got put in the bible somewhere.
