Dmac, Piper - Thank you for the big laughs. I almost choked on my coffee. A few thoughts...

    1) Even though I think it made sense for SD, with every passing year the San Diego/Atlanta trade will look worse for SD I believe. I still say may because you can't find a starting RB and QB in every draft..... but Vick is really special - especially when playing against teams that aren't super-loaded on D like Tampa or Philly. He made Green Bay look bad. Madden and Michaels reminded folks midway through the third qtr that he's ONLY 22.5!

    2) Packers showed up for a coronation instead of expecting a dogfight. They never really got up after getting down 14-0. Packers were also pretty beat up.

    3) Mr. Sherman - challenge the punt call you dumbass. At least throw the flag out there.

    4) Teams favored by 6.5 are worthless.

Atlanta at Philly should be interesting. Philly is light years ahead of GB on the defensive side of the ball.

I was putting too much faith in Laumbaue mistique and Farve magic. Didn't Farve look like an old riverboat gambler who crapped out?

Vick carries his team, I think it will be hard vs a good D like Philly unless he has a running game to go with it. Got to go with Philly, my NFC Super Bowl pick.

Feild conditions are the worst I have EVER seen in the playoffs. New York was just nasty...advantage Jets, GB progressively got worse...advantage Falcons due to their power running game and Vick not having to throw to win.
Now you've got the Steelers and their running game which should have the advantage with their running game.
Is this afternoons game at San Fran or NY? I think it's San Fran???

Disagree, Tomlinson is a stud and Brees looks like a solid starter for years to come. No matter how good Vick becomes, I don't think SD will be sorry for that trade. Tomlinson's proven to be one of the best backs in the league, and Brees has been solid and is still improving. So if Vick does reach his potential, this looks like the rare trade that worked out for both sides.

Right now, though, Vick is great only as long as you don't have to rely on him to pass. He is a mediocre passer that still struggles making the correct read at times. Reeves had to really simplify the offense for him. His strength is his running ability and athleticism, not his QB skills. Almost all of his big plays are a direct result of his running...he just runs around back there until the defense breaks down, and either a lane opens up or a receiver breaks free.

Also, you have to remember that this is the first real exposure to Vick's athleticism the league has had. They will learn to better contain him, and force him to beat them with his arm (see Tampa Bay), and he has not shown the ability to do that yet. Not to mention the fact that he is injury prone and has never played a full season. He misses games every year because of injuries, and we all know that playing on turf is not conducive to good health.

IMO, he just a very good running back playing QB right now. He has a cannon of an arm, but he's not consistent and has thus far been able to use his speed and athleticism to avoid pressure. The problem with that is just like with RB's, he'll take a lot of hits until/unless he learns to become a QB first. Otherwise, he'll have a very short shelf-life. So until he shows something other than running skills, He doesn't belong in discussions about the top QB's...top playmakers, yes, but not top QB's.
