Will Mr. Reese ever give up   . . . . Only the crowd at WBT and the RHINO TIMES thinks he has a chance at overturning the Knights Ballpark deal with Mecklenburg Co. MLB will not be coming to Charlotte in the immediate future!!!!!!!!!! 10 years from now? Maybe? But there are no MLB teams for sale. Would it be a good idea for the city to build a white elephant that sits empty for 10 years (see Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay; It sat empty for 8 years before MLB finally came to town) ** ? ? ?

**Yeah, Mr. Reese says he can build the 35,000 Retractable Roof Ballpark with private money, but I'll bet you he'll ask for public money in some form (i.e. TIF and/or Public Money via Bond Referendum to get the overall Brooklyn Redevelopment project going). The minute this happens, his supporters at WBT and RHINO TIMES are going to turn on him!!!!!!!

Judge rejects restraining order against new Knights ballpark

    Posted March 26, 2008

An attempt at an emergency restraining order shutting down construction of a new Charlotte Knights (Class AAA; International League) has been rejected by Mecklenburg Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Robert Johnston, who held that local attorney Jerry Reese did not show he would suffer irreparable harm should the project proceed. Reese is a vocal opponent of the ballpark project, which calls for Mecklenburg County to acquire land for the facility and the Knights paying for the ballpark construction; he argues the city should proceed with a major-league ballpark he would build as part of a larger development.

This is the fourth time Reese has sued Mecklenburg County; he has yet to win, and many doubt the next move from Reese -- to seek a preliminary injunction against the project -- will succeed, either. The heart of Reese's legal argument is that the county is misspending funds raised via bond on a ballpark as that specific use is barred under the enabling vote; the county says it is not spending money directly on a ballpark

Carolina Cubs sounds better.....but if they left chicago or wrigley field I would go into a deep depression.
