There are some Christian denominations who do not believe in modern medicine -- that all healing should be "faith" healing, but they are few and far between. That belief is the result of a few horribly skewed and misinterpreted passages of scripture.

I think how far a medical professional can go with treatment depends on if the patient is coherent or has a representative (i.e. parent/spouse). An adult can refuse treatment for himself, but there may be laws on the books overriding a parent's authority in the case of a child in grave danger. I honestly don't know.

God gave him the ability, not necessarily the mandate. God gives people the choice whether or not to receive the benefits of others' abilities, too.

Here's an example -- God gave Jesus the ability to heal, and He did it often. But when He approached one disease-ridden man at the pool of Bethesda, this took place:
Jesus gave him the choice of whether or not he wanted to be healed. If the man said, "no", would that mean Jesus failed? Of course not.

    Not exactly the same...
    Jesus/God doesn't fail.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Abraham/Isaac. Kill the goat in the bush instead.

Thought I would relate something. We had our neighborhood garage sale this weekend and the JW were walking door to door. Strange thing is when they got to my house, where me and my neighbor where talking in the front yard they just walked by without stopping. However they did stop at my neighbors house. I joked that I must be giving off some bad vibe or something. Maybe by the look of me they knew I was a lost cause.:laugh1:

Because of who He is, or because of what He did?

Abraham didn't kill the ram because he couldn't bring himself to sacrifice his son. He was in the act of killing Isaac when the angel of the Lord stopped him and provided the ram in Isaac's place.

I long for the day Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses come by my house for a visit. :wink2:

There is a JW temple not a 1/2 mile away from our house, yet I don't think I've even seen any Witnesses in my neighborhood.

    Because of who He is.

I know. He was ready to sacrifice... but it was a test. That's where I was going with it.

JWs are told to use common sense when they go door-to-door. They probably didn't bother you because it was obvious that you were busy and interrupting might not have left the best impression.

So blaring Marilyn Manson out my windows and coming to the door wearing a pentagram pendant would get the point across too, right?
