I did not look at Otah a lot in the lead up to that year's draft. There were a couple of other tackles I thought we were more likely to draft. I think they were Clady and Williams. Otah did not seem like a fit for us. That was before they decided to go after huge offensive linemen. I do seem to recall that he had some injury concerns coming out of college.

As a general rule guys who are huge like Otah struggle to come back from injury. I guess all that weight puts a strain on their bodies. I think that was part of why Jenkins had a relatively short career.

As much as Jordan Gross can be frustrating this emphasizes again to me that he was a good decision both to sign and lock up. Except for that year where he broke his leg he has been durable and consistent if never elite.

OMG!!! He failed his physical. He's currently still a Panther.

Inside the Panthers: Panthers not done with Otah yet

Now see, I thought since the trade was announced he'd passed one.

    So we're a shoe, he's chewing gum.

Andrews is well respected and if he says the knee is structurally sound then it makes me wonder if Otah is just lazy or something. It could be he is just really out of shape and over weight.

If we can't trade him I hope we hang onto him. He might get motivated to work harder after seeing that he is no longer valued that much by the NFL and will likely be out of the league if he can't get it together. Prior to this he was probably still looking at himself as a first round pick type guy.

If he can't pass a physical, that implies to me that its not actually structurally sound. I am sure there is more going on than is being reported.

Also, doctors regularly disagree. The Jets' doctors have a reason to be extra cautious since they're the ones who get blamed if they expose the team to liability.

Is it a case of him being too lazy to rehabilitate the knee or just real bad luck. It seems like if he isn't going through a team rehabilitation program you could fine him or cut him without any settlement.

If it is not structurally sound then it should be obvious and some type of surgery or rehab should be prescribed. James Andrews is very well respected. If he thinks it is OK it probably is.

If Otah's up to 360+ he's well on his way to becoming Kris Jenkins II. Too much weight on that knee is the problem. Injuries will happen again and again.
