Ditto Tab. Snoil's talking about the current trade, not for the Lions drafting Jammer.

Seems an unusually high number of holdouts. Is it?

Not really. Davis, Smith, and Tomilson, picks 2, 4, and 5, were all holdouts last year.

The one that's weird to me is Wendall Bryant's holdout in Zona. That contract shouldn't be that hard.

gotcha. Yeah, head's not working today.

Piper has a handle on who was out last year. Problem is, this year would be a small amount if not for the logjam from Jammer on down.

did anyone mention portis? that RB the broncos landed? welp, all i can say is, hellya! u shoulda got him. saw him play last night. i think that rookie just earned himself a spot last night. he be playing in the regular season, i think. dont remember the stats, but he was running that ball, making yards. made the other vet RB look like a rookie!

Foster has looked better. But we'll see.

Portis has a lot of talent. I only question his durability as a feature back. In that offense - he doesn't need to carry a huge load however, so that is the perfect fit for him. Look for some big plays from him and look for the Broncos to be a more complete team this year. I really like what they did in the offseason. If McCaffery comes back strong they are very deep and talented on offense at all positions. The defense is ok but a bit weak in the trenches. Still I expect the Broncos to fight till the very end with Oakland for that division. Expect Griese to have a big year as well.

that was my argument when everyone was gaga over Portis before the draft. I wasn't sold on Foster by any means, esp. before the talk about Skipper and the fumbles, but I didn't think Portis was the guy. IMO he's just a very fast back with decent skills. Works for that O but not ours.

Still, everyone mentions Portis after Davis, as if Gary and Anderson aren't on this team - though Gary Anderson isn't.

I don't want to go way out to left field here but...

From what I have seen so far, I wouldn't take many backs in the league before Foster right now. That is an extremely bold statement but Foster has that kinda package. With that size, speed, power, vision and determination (including that Walton Payton stiff arm) - what else do you need??? Foster will definately be a better all around pro back than Portis.

IMO, the Warrick Dunn comparisions are real with Portis - although in that offense that is not such a bad thing. Is there anyone who can beat out Foster for ROY? Unless Green comes out smoking I wouldn't bet on it. Don't want to jinx the guy but the sky is the limit with DeShaun.

BTW: Any reason why we can't have the defensive and offensive ROY? How cool would dat be! :D

well, there's a similar amount of all-around skill with Foster and Portis - Clint probably doesn't have the moves and a tick faster in speed only helps you when you're out in the blazing open. Depends on who gets in the right situation first. I don't honestly see either of the top two quarterbacks being polished enough to beat a back, since RBs generally hit the ground running, so to speak.

Paired rookies of the year? Not impossible, but I think it'll be somewhat easier for Foster (Given an adequate number of carries and a great performance) than Peppers, since Julius still isn't putting all his power to the ground. It's not for lack of effort, but it's not hard to see that he's still very raw. Since it seems like only Roy Williams will battle Peppers of the higher first rounders (Sims, Jammer, Bryant not in camp, and I don't see Haynesworth or Henderson being the big impact just yet), it might end up coming down to whose team's D was better.
