stupid, stupid, stupid kids - first Rod Council gets busted for stealing now Curry with this crap.

I guess if the old rumors were true about Roy being cool to having Curry on scholarship this gives him an out if he wants to free the scholarship up.

I hope things work out for him.

So silly to tarnish his record setting season like this

I don't go looking for stuff like this, but I hadn't seen anyone else post anything.

Y'all have been speaking so well of him that this is kinda disappointing.

I guess it could be a mistake.

It is disappointing. Not just for him, but everyone else involved. There's a lot of broken-hearted parents around here right now. I think I'll go down to the courthouse and see if I can get on TV.

Name 1 school that wouldn't have 49 or more people brought on drug charges if there was a probe done. Shit, 75% of my high school would've been fucked. :smoke:

Curry is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of selling and delivering marijuana and two counts of possession of a controlled substance on school grounds.

This was an undercover operation begun last fall. There must be some dumb students in Alamance County, officers were in each of the schools posing as students and purchased drugs in the school parking lots, hallways and bathrooms.

Long term suspensions for all involved according to the school system and "alternative" schooling if they are allowed back, which means no athletics.

A record-setting boys’ basketball player at Eastern Alamance High School was among 49 high school students arrested this morning in an undercover drug operation coordinated by the Alamance-Burlington Schools and local law enforcement authorities.

The operation began in August and ran through December, Superintendent Jim Merrill said. Area high schools were locked down at the beginning of school as sheriff’s deputies and police officers made arrests.

JamesOn Curry, a senior at Eastern Alamance, was arrested on two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, two counts of selling and delivering marijuana and two counts of possession of a controlled substance on school grounds.

Nineteen arrests were made at Cummings High School, with nine arrests each at Eastern and Southern Alamance. Six students were arrested at Williams, with four arrested at Graham and two at Sellars-Gunn Education Center.

There were no arrests at Western Alamance High School. Merrill cautioned against drawing conclusions about drug problems at different schools based on the arrests.

“Law enforcement officers tell us how difficult it is to infiltrate a school’s drug culture,” he said.

“Many students in our schools this morning have seen their classmates led away in handcuffs a scene which is both frightening and sobering,” Merrill said. “The students who are being arrested are frightened and embarrassed. These charges bring shame to them, their families and their friends.”

Merrill said each of the students arrested “will face at least long-term suspension.”

Curry, the state’s all-time leading scorer, signed with the University of North Carolina late last year.

The 6-foot, 2-inch guard leads the area in scoring, averaging 40.2 points per game. He has scored 3,308 points in four years at Eastern Alamance.
Curry was twice named to the Associated Press All-State first team and was also named the Times-News All-Region Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year the past two seasons.

Roy Williams' response to the arrest

    From Inside Carolina...

"It’s very disturbing, but it’s surprising – that’s probably the biggest thing. I’m just learning everything about it just like you guys are. It happened today, so I don’t have enough information at this time. He does not play for me, he’s not under my watch.

I do have certain thoughts and feelings that are going through my mind that are personal and will stay that way. It’s so new and no one has any great information right now and again he doesn’t play for me – he’s not here. If there needs to be a decision made at some time, I’ll make that decision. If I do, he and his family will know about it first. And if I don’t need to make a decision, I won’t."

What a horrible shame. I hope he will be treated like Kobe, his constitutional rights respected, considered innocent until proven guilty and allowed to continue to play until he is found guilty.

it was undercover, they wouldn't arrest them if they weren't already guilty.

he's fucked, and I hope Roy doesn't let him on the team.
