Peavy has apparently made it obvious that he wants no part of a rebuilding project in san diego. He has said that he would play for the yankees or braves since it's closer to home (he's from alabama).

I doubt the Yankees will go after him if they get Texiera, Sabbathia or both. Sox are rumored to be interested and they have plenty to offer in trade. I can see Buccholz being dangled, along with a couple minor league position players. Maybe even toss crisp in. I think he has at least one year left on his contract. I'd love to see it happen.

I'd love to see the Braves go after him but I'm not sure just what they have that the Padres would want. Still, anything is possible I guess if he wants out bad enough.

The braves are the top contenders for Peavy and they have had talks with the Padres. The Padres reportedly want Yunel Escobar included in the deal and if he does get thrown in expect Atlanta to be getting Khalil Greene. It seems like Khalil has worn out his welcome in San Diego......If I were the Braves I would go for this. Peavy has agreed to wave his no trade clause to pitch for Atlanta.

I would have a hard time including Escobar in a deal. The guy has a higher ceiling than anyone in the Braves organization. I can understand why the Padres would covet him.

true, but to get peavy I would give up escobar. Peavy is a season removed from being the triple crown winner.

Escobar is the type of talent that could have a great career in the bigs. On the other hand the Braves must make some moves to get some starting pitching. It would be a big deal for both teams. Padres must get better on offense and Escobar would be a start.

Escobar is as good as he's going to get. If they can get Peavy for him, that's a no-brainer.

newest reports say that the race for peavy is already down to just 3 teams. Braves, Dodgers, and Cubs.

Now that the Cubs have Hendry's contract extension completed, I wouldn't be surprised to see them get Peavy in the end.
