Is a Free Agent next year, I just realized. He's looked good as a backup.

Manning coming out early could mean we're in a position to grab Manning, Palmer, or Leftwich. That might make Delhomme a good one year starter.

delhomme is a decent qb- he had a piss-poor o-line in 99 when he started some games. but he has solid pocket presence and is pretty accurate- hell, he could be better than jake plummer..

I liked him in 99 when he got time even though we made him look foolish. He's got a chance to be a decent starter for somebody.

He'll be the most affordable FA out there, most likely.

Delhomme and Shaun King have done more for me than Plummer ever did.

His inexpensive FA status, along with being a veteran, seem to fit the 'plan' for Panther's rebuilding. Kinda like Cousins and Lamar Smith.

yep. Batch wouldn't be bad if he were more accurate. But then if he were, he'd still be starting.

Delhomme being a division rival's guy should be a plus if we go there. And I'd feel better about going receiver first and then QB. I'd feel much better than with Peete back again.

    Yeah, receiver sure looks solid.

It'll be interesting to see how the O-line performs the rest of the year, particularly against the Steelers and the Saints. They haven't seemed very thrilled with the O-line.

Plus, I just don;t see Fox as being a guy to risk a first rounder on a QB. I see him going RB, O-line, or Defense. That's just my take. He's a run the ball, stop the run guy. And, as bad as our Offense has been, Rodney Peete has had a couple of 300 yard games. And Peete kinda stinks. I'm thinking a notch or 2 improvement at QB, an improvement / depth at WR (smith impressed the shit out of me. I'd like to see that against the Steelers), and a top RB.

We might get better next year. As bad as we are, I'm surprised we're as good as we are.

good points. i'm looking at the reciever position- moose at 1, FA/Rookie at 2, and slide smith to the slot. thats pretty formidable. about the OL- i dont know guys, donnalley is near the end of his career, and tuten still needs more time before i can give an opinion on him. i'm satisfied with nesbit, mitchell and steussie. maybe draft a RT/LG in the 2nd round. on defense,we've to to go corner, but rashard anderson will be coming back- i'd like to see what he has. howard, anderson, wesley, cousin are all solid, but nothing to right home about- what are the db prospects for us in the 1st round?

I really hope we don't go OT. If it were Mike WIlliams or Leonard Davis we were getting? Maybe. But a tackle for tackle's sake? You gotta have a guy who'll be dominating in under a year. No one's there for us. Receiver there would be. There are flavors at QB as to where we could get our guy if luck falls right.

There isn't much in the first round at CB for cover two. I covered it somewhere yesterday and basically the idea is that there's no one lockdown guy there. There's some fast guys with man ability who can't tackle or play physical. There's some guys who have the physical part down but can't play man and lack speed - which in this defense is OK, but you really want a guy who can go man as well because we tend to disguise man on one side as cover two, and in the top 15 you really should be able to get a guy who can do both.

back to delhomme then- if we sign this guy, i dont see the immediate need to draft a QB in the first round. i think we should trade down, get us a late first rounder, grab a second rounder, and still have our second rounder. this will allow us to be much more flexible in our approach. we could then use a 2nd rounder to get a qb- maybe simms, and still have solid position to draft our remaining needs.
