I've lost 50 lbs in the last year.. when did this challenge start? I wonder how many of my lost lbs qualify for the event?

Does it count if I gained the weight because of a medical disorder and then finally recieved treatment, thus causing the weight loss?

I must admit, I haven't worked all that hard for it... I just fixed my hormonal imbalance and voila... it counts, right?

Oh yah... they're smaller. Not considerably because they were giant when I was a 13 year old.. I'll never escape it. I think I thought the heavier I got that I could hide them under big clothes. It never worked. later my pcos kicked in and went unattended for 10-15 years... Most of those years it was ok, I just plump, chunky whatever.. hanging on at about 160 back then...

... then .... the last few years have been horrible, pcos kicked in hardcore, I have all but 1 of the symptoms... and let me say - this disorder/disease.. really sucks. It's hard to be a woman and deal with these issues, but lucky for men, they don't get pcos.

So to make a long story short, lastyear I was my heaviest I had ever been... and yes, my breasts grew with the rest of me, I'm still in the MM cup, but I'm no longer too big for it. Lucky huh?

If anyone is curious about the pcos and what the hell I'm talking about...
you can learn more here... chances are people you know have this disorder and are unaware so it would be cool to educate yourself. I wish someone had told me ten years ago, would have saved a lot of pain and suffering to have known earlier...so read- educate yourselves and inform anyone you know who may suffer from these symptoms...

    :)

Thank you VG! I didn't know you went through that same " I KNOW I"M NOT NUTS - I KNOW THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG " thing...

when I was 22 my skin went from flawless pale perfect skin to... something else. I was freaked out, I sought out advice from facialists, dermatologists, and my supposedly very capable dr at cedars. Everyone told me that I was having skin problems because I was chunky. I had a friend who was 500 lbs and he had flawless perfect skin, so I knew that was bs. Besides, i was chunky in HS and my skin was perfect... laat year I found out, that all my complaints of the last 10 years have been 100% PCOS induced. They told me that I was too heavy to have the pretty skin. such bs. Rather than listen to me, when I said - this isn't normal for me, this isn't right for me - something is wrong. I was just told to lose weight and it would all be better. No one ever stopped to consider than my weight was caused by the same disease causing the skin problems.

    sigh...

I have a new dr now. He sits down with me, at his desk and talks to me. He doesn't poke at me, prod me... he just talks and listens. This is what dr's should do... listen to their patients and the "regular rules" don't always apply to every patient. Sure, maybe when people gain weight their skin becomes problematic but as I have recently learned, there are other reasons.

VG... I'm glad that you were finally given the gift of understanding with regard to whatever is going on with you... and no, you're not crazy!

    :)

Acrochordons (skin tags) — Tiny flaps (tags) of skin that usually cause no symptoms unless irritated by rubbing.

This part sounds bad enough and its one of the mild things about it.
Good luck to you ladies who have it.

Dig it - you're right, that WAS mild... until I was 29 and decided to have 3 teenie ones under my left arm removed. The dr was running late so his nurse took it upon herself to complete what amounted to a small surgical procedure. She put bandaids over the spots, and gave me no other instructions.

Two of them got infected and now I have two giant keyloid scars, where there were once two tiny little bumps of skin. Now I just try to ignore them, i don't have very many and they're the same color as my skin, since they are my skin, so you can't really see them - but they annoy me. However, scars bug me out more.

The rest of the symptoms are much more severe and hard to deal with, emotionally.

I learned a valuable lesson though - DO NOT TAKE THE OPINION OF ANY DOCTOR AS LAW!
If you KNOW something else is up in your heart, you're probably right and should seek out the answers, regardless of what your trusted Dr. advises. He might just be missing the point. Mine did.

But ultimately, the responsibility lies with me, for not seeking out other doctors and specialists. I just took his word as law, and ignored my instincts which told me that he was wrong, and that something was causing my symptoms, other than my weight.

In the end, I found out that my weight gain WAS a symptom that he missed. So, a good lesson learned at a young age, and it may kill me to have not known earlier, or it may save my life later to have learned to seek out as many opinions as it takes until the answer is found. We'll see!

On the positive side... I still do my girl thing every month, and I ovulate. I only have 2 or 3 of those cysts, and they come when women skip periods. Many women with pcos have hundreds of cysts. So, the most important thing, fetility may not be an issue for me, as it is for other women with this disorder. Of course, I've never had kids so I can't be sure, but I'm pretty sure.
