when the players union can decide whether or not to allow restructuring on a deal. i understand it is in the best interest of the player, but the if the player agrees to it then let it happen. total bullshit. look what a-rod has done for the players union signing that ungodly contract, yet they can't agree to the restructured deal that he himself agreed to. what a crock.

    Dear Lord,

Please don't let the Yankees sign Kevin Brown.

What a fucking joke. Every party involved wanted this to happen, so why can't the players union just shut the fuck up. They say its in the best interest of the players. Whatever. What is in the best interest of the players is the popularity of the game. What could be better for the growth of the game than the red sox winning another world series?

I expect this deal to go down sometime down the line. The part that really sucks now is that the Red Sox organization now have to welcome Nomar back with open arms after trying to trade him away to Chicago. Add in the fact that the owner badmouthed he and his agent and Millar ran his mouth a little too early about rather having A-Rod and this could be a clubhouse disaster.

What I can't figure out is where does Selig get the stones to set a time line where the teams to talk trade. Their in the winter meetings? What else do they do in the winter meet? Even afterwords teams talk trades to improve themselves. God Selig MUST GO

i'm always one of the first to say "back off of selig people", but in this case, i agree 100% PP. he has no business whatsoever setting deadlines for trades.

The problem isn't Selig, it's the Players Union. They don't want the precident set of a player taking a major pay cut because any time a team gets in financial trouble (mainly through the owner's own stupidity) they'll scream for every one to take a paycut to help out.

but in order to restructure, a team has to offer some "added benefit" for them to go along with the restructuring. i'm with all these guys who say playing games that mean something in august and september is one hell of an "added benefit".
