You should put that cable on ebay and see what it goes for. Hell it was free, pure profit!

    I'm lost...
Probably a little too late to respond, but I have the Samsung 4661, and I love the shit out of it. HD is absolutely amazing. I have an upconvert DVD player, and it is also awesome. SD television, however, is definately lacking. Not sure how the SD on the 4661 compares to other LCD models of the same size, but I have a feeling they are all about the same... maybe even worse. It's the nature of the beast, I would say. But other than the SD programming I have 0 complaints about my TV.

At the time I bought my tv, IMO, no other model even compared to the picture quality on the 4661, regardless of how much more the others cost.

None of these TVs do SD well. The best reviewed sets are just the lower res ones (closer to the source) and a good scaler. You can spend a buttload on crap like scaler chips and such (though the same ones are used in several sets), but a 640 x480 analog or digital picture is just that. Blow it up to 50" and 1080p, and you see the warts and imperfections. You can put a dress on a dog, but it's still a dog.

Totally different discussion, and I know I know "fuck all", but since Tet will read this - I finally found the optimum settings for my regza to maximize my viewing angle. I shit you not, you can be at ridiculous angles to the fucker at any distance out to about 6 or 8 feet to the side, and the LCD washout is non-existent, or its so damn faint I'm not seeing it at all anymore. No backlight bleed, no uneven colors/picture. The prime setting was turning my backlight down about 2/3rds, but then I tweaked the contrast and some other stuff, and damn if it doesn't look impressive. I'm really, really happy with it now. Those sets in the store are such a bad comparison with everything turned up to 100.

Yeah, the backlight in LCD is usually pumped way up in showroom floors. Definitely can wash out a lot of the details, glad you like your tv :xyxthumbs:

Arguing over plasma vs lcd is stupider than arguing super nintendo vs genesis.

Both ultimately are stop-gap techs that will be replaced for good in less than 20 years, probably 10. LCD has made up enough of a technical gap that the high end plasmas are being discontinued, it's only a matter of time before there are no more plasmas.

That said, I love mine :)

Actually, just today Pioneer signed a deal with Panasonic. Pioneer will buy Panasonic plasma panels and stop making their own, lending their technology and engineering to Panasonic in the process.

Love my Sammie 5061 plasma too. It's going to be OLED in the future...
