Yep, took me 2 years after I moved here (Rowan County) to find a church that would offer BOTH....and where people where HAPPY to see visitors. I went to many many churches where people never asked my name or asked if I was a visitor. Very sad!

this is more common than you may think and some even feel the opposite way. churches (i.e. the people) face the same problems that most social groups (gatherings) do. some are gonna be happy, some are not. i like most kinds of worship, old gospel, contemporary but not the "funeral home" stuff that puts me to sleep. i am a singer in the choir, praise team and do solo's as well. i gotta feel what im doing, feel it down inside.

My church offers a contemporary service with newer music and a traditional service with traditional hymns.

Sometimes I feel like one, sometimes the other.

People worry too much about music. Getting all worked up emotionally is not what a service is supposed to be about. You should get something of substance from a church service.

You Praise God your way, and I'll praise Him my way, and mine happens to be thru music and has nothing to do with getting "worked up". Heaven forbid you get emotional over something as simple as worship and God when you can get so over football games.
    Read Psalms.

I know what you mean. Sometimes you just feel more quiet and worshipful.

Getting all emotional in church over some music is worth about the same as doing so at a ball game. If you get emotional because the message of the song touched your heart then that is worth something but working yourself up emotionally by listening to some upbeat music is not really worship.
