I agree that you cannot let your players dictate the direction of the team. And I think Doh should be given at least one more year. However, do you still think he can land top tier recruits with everything that has been in the media lately whether it is true or false? If a recruit is trying to decide between UNC and another team does anyone think all this will play a role in the decision?

I think that the other schools will point to that definitely. And the fact that they can do that falls directly on Baddour's shoulders. The fact that this is going on, sure, lies with Doherty and the kids. The fact that it's turned into the soap opera that it is is the AD's fault.

I have no problem with the player going to the coach to work things out. The fact that they got their parents to run to the AD (to complain about playing time no less) is where the problem lies. Compounded by the fact that Baddour hasn's really said shit to try to quelch all these nasty rumors.

I agree that Doh deserves another year. I, for one, was not dissapointed with the product he put on the floor for this year. As far as leaving a nasty mark on the university, yeah, I'm afraid it's done that too.

Doh said he started the practice of players meeting with the AD last year. Think that is true or he was just trying to throw up a smoke screen?

I agree with you for once sly on the first part. The second I think is entirely upto Baddour and co., they need to get off the f'n pot and say one way or the other what they are going to do.

I really don't think this is so much the players whining to the parents - its the kids just telling the parents things that have happened and the parents going apeshit.
its like the kid in little league that doesn't mind if the coach benches him - but the parents in the stands that go bezerk.

too many of these damn parents look at their kids talent as "THEIR" paycheck - and noone even a coach trying to toughen them up is going to stand in their way.

I'm sure Boone's parents were already cashing his first round draft pick signing bonus the day he accepted UNC's schloarship.

I'm not sure. I hadn't read that. From what I understood some players, a few accompanied by their parents, met with with the AD to talk about how the program is being run.

It's not even that so much that bothers me as the way this has snowballed in such a dramatic way. Going back to the topic of the your first post, I think that if this was handled a bit better than rival schools wouldn't have so much anti-UNC propoganda when it comes to recruiting.
