Invaded is a lot different than civil war though, right?

    Wow.

So by Thelt's reasoning, if I were to profess to be a Christian, I could possibly start a war with the entire world if I gained enough support and began to take on followers. Sweet. Armageddon, here we come!

Seriously, hating people because of what they are or what groups they belong to is stupid. Hating people because of what they do, I'd just make damn sure you got the right people in your sights before you piss off a large portion of the world. Oh, wait....nevermind.

yeah. but most of the those countries were colonies that were given up around the first half of the 20th century. they were invaded and occupied for years, then set loose.

But I don't think that most of them were established as Islamic states and rulers generally did not last very long. I mean Pakistan had a woman PM 25 years ago or so, so they can't be that backward.

I can see and follow that line of thinking, but in this case, I don't think the reasoning works. The motivating factors don't add up. The WTC are not a Christian target, nor is the USA a threat to Islam. There are countless thousands of Muslims, in fact, who have immigrated to America specifically so they could practice Islam. Not all American soldiers are Christians, and certainly the international contractors and Iraqi police they've been attacking and kidnapping aren't Christian targets.

The point I'm getting at is that the actions don't trace backward to Islam. They trace back to terrorism, control, and power.

The Muslim faith certainly has a much greater number of violent terrorist types than any other religion.

I don't know that I'd agree with that necessarily. I'll agree they get more media attention when they do, though.

    Two things:

    1) You're talking about people who only claim to be Muslims, not true Muslims.
    2) There are a lot of things going on in the world that don't make the 6:00 news. What religion are the Columbian drug lords? Catholic? How about the IRA? Do the Chechyns claim to be Muslim?

But I'll concede the probability that false Muslims comprise the majority of terrorism in the world today.
