no thread on this? people don't even care around here anymore.

anyway, thoughts? it looks interesting, if I didn't have a new laptop I might consider it, but it doesn't seem as useful as it could be.

Might look snazzy for a year or two when sales reps drop in for meetings. Other than that, if you already have an iPhone and a netbook, it is kinda pointless.

I think it'll be cool for entertainment / casual web-browsing and such. I think it'll eat into (if not eat away entirely) the e-reader market. It's certainly more of a threat to that market than it is to laptops.

Does Apple succeed in unestablished markets? Do people really want to carry another device around just to read on?

they did pretty good with the mp3 player market. The original ipod took over a niche of that market (hard drive based mp3 players) then dominated (revolutionized even?) the entire market.

I don't think people will carry around this device AND a laptop. But there are a lot of people out there I think who don't carry laptops, but will carry these.

Apple nerds will flock to it and thats about it. A fully functional mini notebook makes so much more sense.

The iPod entered into an established market, so did the iPhone, but I dont think the electronic book market is established and that Apple will not succeed but I have been wrong before. The Apple-heads will support it like good little robots but this thing will do as well as the Lisa did.
