I been going to church lately......believe it or not.

The church is huge and it is more of a bible study that jumps all over the Bible and covers multiple versus, than a preaching.

So....every Sunday and Wednesday there is an invitation to receive Jesus and every day 20 or more people go forward. I actually like it, but I worry that some of the 20 or more people that go forward are not being saved, but padding the numbers or trying to help the strugglers have the confidence to go forward, by making it look like there are alot of people going forward.

If that's true, then it pisses me off. Should it? Only reason I think it's true is because often I see some of the people that were just saved walking out rather than going with the others for couseling and free bible. Maybe they are re-dedicating their lives? Should I care if I'm enjoying the church or should I allow it to piss me off?

I think its great you are finding it meaningful to go to church.

In my experience, when I begin to allow the actions of others to dictate my responses, especially towards God of the church, then I get sidetracked and my faith becomes weak.

Spirituality is a very personal thing. Although we gain strength from studying the Bible, worshiping with other believers and from good, honest preaching, our response is always a response to God Himself.

So, I would suggest that you ignore what the people who come up front are doing and focus instead of how your heart is responding to God's presence and what that might mean for your life.

I always find a reason to not like a church....I just figured this was my way of getting myself out of church again.....I have always been wide open and I can't stand hypocrits....

For now I'm enjoying the church and the boys are too. Thanks for the response.

In my church not everyone who goes to the alter does so to get saved. Lots of people go just to pray and seek guidance.

They take them back to the room with the couselors after the invitation. I understand people going forward with others, but I saw people go forward by themselves then walk back to their seats......It just disturbed me for some reason. I would like to think that there is a simple explanation, but if the church is padding the numbers or using people to manipualate others to the alter....I got a problem....

Guess I need to ask the question, so I can get over it. The church is great. Me and the boys are learning alot. I wouldn't stop going over it, but I would need to understand the reason.
