Introductory Presser

In watching the introductory press conference, I was struck first by Tepper’s weird, uncomfortable smiles, his almost constant glancing at the crinkled paper from which he read remarks, and how awkward the entire thing felt having just seen and heard this ridiculous production a year ago. The faces of those in attendance were flat, and the former players looked truly uninspired. No one is buying the bullshit Tepper continues to sell.

Canales certainly deserves a chance, but his demeanor and responses seem contrived, redundant, and car salesman like. Again, the general atmosphere, after watching this same movie one year ago, was lifeless. And having to watch and listen to the owners comments only increased my distrust in his ability to stay out of the way. My pessimism is a conditioned response.

Tepper needing to be stage managed so badly is hilarious. I think in the financial world he was surrounded by yes men and never got the feedback on his fuckups he does here. Any asshole can see the scoreboard.

Personally, I would need to see Tepper act like a normal owner for at least three years in a row before I buy into this team again. Not a surprise 4-1 start or 10-7 season. In fact, the records don't even matter to me at this point. Show me conclusive evidence that you've changed, and show it over a long period of time. Until then, I'm not listening to a fucking word you have to say or giving you any benefit of the doubt.
