IE... you'll have WAY less trouble long term if you stick with IE.

If IE isn't working you need to solve that problem not ignore it. IE is pretty much a core component to Windows. You may be able to simple ignore it now by using FireFox, but considering FireFox now has more vulnerabilities than IE and the fact that you say IE won't open at all you're looking for WAY more mess in the near future by ignoring it than you would be by simply fixing the problem at hand.

How did you get to the MS updates without having IE??

went to control panel(or my computer-xp is a little different than what Im used to) click microsoft updates icon, page came up. I can pull down the address bar so it shows and then type in TBR or whatever and it works fine. also if a page has a pop up link, it wont open that. I cant figure out why clicking the icon , or start up menu wont work, but I can go through the control panel. :banginghe

Right-click on the desktop icon and see if it will let you access Internet Options. You might try setting everything back to defaults just as a starting point. Clear out temp files, etc.

I will try that. its my home computer,so I might try at lunch. it happened about a month ago and I updated IE and it was working again. then out of nowhere it wont open. damn pron sites :wtf23:

as I understand, you can never get rid of IE, just revert back to the old version. may have to do that and then update it again

I would like to keep using it , just because Im already used to it

You don't have a System Restore?

[I use MSN9, but it's built on IE.]
