Cinema Paradiso irks me. I was forced to watch it in college. Ruined the entire experience.

    Y Tu Mama Tambien.....Pretty good.

I have a few to add... they are all anime though.

X - The series I haven't had a chance to see yet, but the movie was damn sweet.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - probably my favorite series, they did a bad job of ending it... but that is why they made the movies, to correct the ending.

.Hack//Sign - No movies out that I know of, but the series is cool.

Berserk - Death, destruction, demons, a bad ass with a sword as big as he is...

Some of those on cartoon network were actually good before going through the American editting process... they were butchered, they cut most of the violence, blood, foul language, and gruesome deaths from Dragon Ball Z, and that's just shitty.

Well, if we go into animated stuff, those are okay for the teenager in you, but how about:

    Kiki's Delivery Service
    Totoro
    Castle in the Sky
    Spirited Away
    Princess Mononoke

The Bicyle Thief is one of the most boring pieces of shit I have ever sit through. You're just trying to act edumacated.

I agree. Check out The Young Poisoner's Handbook (UK; a poor man's Clockwork Orange only you can relate to it and the characters are likeable) and The City of Lost Children (France from the guy that did Amelie only this one doesn't suck).

edit: You also need to remember Fellini's 8 1/2 & Bunel/Dali's Le Andalou Chien

City of Lost Children was really weird, but not something I'd encourage anyone to spend time watching. Very French. Amelie was goofy and fun, also in a very French way.

A lot of Fellini's stuff doesn't appeal to me at all. 8 1/2 makes me sleepy.

Never heard of that Le Chien movie - 1928 creation doesn't grab me though from what I saw on a quick search...

Before Night Falls should appeal to Builder, and I really liked it too.
