I ventured down to Charlotte this past weekend to attend a friend of mine's wedding. It was in a chapel near downtown. Interestingly, my friend was Brazilian and her husband is muslim. To be honest, I was interested in seeing how the whole thing played out.

During the service, there was no mention of Jesus or Allah. The word God was used many times but that was it. There were no "bridesmaids or groomsmen" per say, their parents and family members were up with them. One thing of interest, however, was that the connection between God and marriage was repeatedly referenced, I don't think muslims see it the same way.

Afterwards, we all went to the reception and everyone had a great time. Brazilians, Turks, Christians, Muslims all drinking and dancing together. Kind of made me forget what was going on outside those doors in far away places and how easy it would be for all to get along.

Muslims are going to hell for drinking. At least least that is what they say.

Only if they're drinking alcoholic beverages.

My bro had an intersting wedding too. Irish Catholics haveing a wedding in Italy. It was funny seeing the priest go back and forth with the crowd searching for responses. You know how people do different things in different churchs. You could see all the Italian onlookers asking why we were kneeling after communion.

At the reception nobody touched the alcohol free drinks.;)

It was refreshing to say the least.

BTW, this was the first reception that had a belly dancer. Interesting how all the guys just stared.

Did I mention there were several Brazilian ladies attending the wedding. I had the peripheral vision going all night! :notworthy

My best friend is a Messianic Jew. We don't let our spiritual differences get in the way of mutual respect and loyalty. It's not that hard.

That's cool. I really wish I could meet and get to know a Messianic Jew. I'd love to hear a lot more about their perspective.
