Also, it is still hard to tie it back because all or none of those 12 free ones may also be shooting fouls.

Well, if you strictly want to talk about why UNC shoots more FT than anyone, the answer lies in their style of play. They like to go inside, drive, and run the fast break. All three of those are more likely to lead to shooting fouls than a team like Dook, which relies more on the outside game, doesn’t run a whole bunch, and really only has one inside presence. Wake also takes the ball to the hoop more and has better inside players than Dook, which is why they would be second. I have no idea why MD is third.

Look at the VT game and your argument is incorrect. Shelden had a double double at half time. We were going inside a bunch in the first half. Now look at VT, Duke averages 4 blocks a game but didn't have a single one in this game. If they were getting all the calls then they would have had several. No, VT was settling for jump shots from the perimeter. Hence the disparity.

I am not looking at just one game though. And I didn't see the VT game, so I have no idea, but I'm not really sure that a margin that big can just be explained by the style of play. 21 fouls in 17 minutes is hard to do even if you are trying to do it.

Nobody is arguing the majority of the fouls called on VT. Just one or two at most. 95% of the ones called on them are not even in question so, yes, their game plan obviously was to be physical. Greenburg is a moron for not recognizing the refs were calling it tight from the very first second.

Dumb fuck it's not being called tight when just for one team. Dook got away with a ton more calls than VT plain and simple whether you want to admit it or not. I have not seen one non dookie back up your claim about the calls. Hell most of the dookies aren't even backing your ass up. :xyzthumbs

Bingo, we have a winner Sly! When you contantly have a team that runs, and other teams that can't stop them will reach and foul a lot when the player is going past them, hell a lot of times they will foul just to get a rest.

Well shit, if that answer suffices then that is my answer also. Duke plays a fast paced game. They play from ahead more than from behind. The do have a guy in the paint in Shelden who will draw fouls and they have a guy in Redick who the only way you can hope to contain him is to grab him.

Any perceived bias is a fantasy.

The Heels play a much more wide open game. Slashing and such. Stands to reason when people get burned they reach out more and foul

"Stands to reason", sorry not good enough. All the statistical and empirical evidence points to favoritism for UNC. Any evidence of favoritism for Duke is merely opinion.
