The vast majority of MLB pitchers in today's game are overpaid pussies.
    (1963)
Los Angeles completely dominated the New York Yankees in a quick four-game sweep for the title, and it was essentially a three-man job. The starting rotation of Sandy Koufax, Johnny Podres and Don Drysdale allowed a combined four runs and struck out 36 batters over 35 1/2 innings. Ron Perranoski was the only other Dodger to pitch in the series, going two-thirds of an inning.

    Yep, read the facts.
This particular World Series had one relief pitcher that went 2/3s of an inning.
In the 4 game sweep, the Dodger pitchers gave up a total of 4 runs and struck out 36 Yankees in 36 innings.
In today's world of pro ball, a pitcher going a complete game is pretty much the equivalent of pitching a no-hitter.
How could the old guys do it?

I mean, come on now. He looks like he should be wearing a pocket protector and carrying a slide rule in one hand, but in 1968 he won 31 games. Won 31 games in a season! He was 31-4 that season. You'll never hear about that happening anymore.
Shit, 20 game winners are a hen's teeth rarity these days.

Speaking of 20 game winners, in 1970 the Orioles had 3...

    (1970)
Let's not harp too much on the fact that the stellar trio of Mike Cuellar, Dave McNally, and Jim Palmer was far from dominant during the actual 1970 World Series. Cuellar and McNally each won 24 games during the regular season and Palmer notched 20. It doesn't get much better than that. During Baltimore's five-game Series triumph over Cincinnati, none of the three posted an ERA lower than 3.00, but each earned a winning decision while McNally and Cuellar recorded complete games.

I'd say 95% of today's "professional" athletes are overpaid pussies - all sports, men & women included

For the most part I would agree.
I think TV deals are the blame for a lot of it.
