I don't think we can since he withdrew himself from the draft. That definately wouldn't be a bad idea though.

well what are your thoughts on Steve Smith. I figured he'd be around until at least the 5th. I definantly wouldn't hurt this team to draft two corners. Hell, if it don't work out we could always use ANOTHER NICKLE BACK.

2 picks in the 2nd round would be nice, but in this draft it wouldn't be bad to even get 2 3rds.

Derek, I can't find anything on him to make a determination about him. Do you have any links?

As far as mocks go, let's throw a couple of other scenarios out there to see what every one thinks:

    1. Trade with Dallas, we drop from 2 to 6 and swap 3rd rounders while picking up their 2nd at 37. our picks are 6. 34. 37, 67. 104. 137.

2.Trade with Seattle, we drop from 2 to 20, pick up Shaun Alexander, their 2nd, 3rd, and their supplimental pick in the 4th.
    Our picks are now 20, 34, 54, 67, 85, 100, 137, and 167.

It's a little more work, but you'll see what better options we have in doing either deal. The same rules apply, you can't pick any one above your pick.

    Dallas Scenario

    6- Phillip Buchanon CB Miami

    34-Clinton Portis RB Miami

    37-Anthony Weaver DT Notre Dame

    67-Dennis Johnson DE Kentucky

    104-Trev Faulk LB LSU

    137-Freddie Milons WR Alabama

    Seattle Scenario

20-Lito Sheppard CB Florida, Mike Rumph CB Miami. or Kalimba Edwards DE South Carolina

34-Anthony Weaver DT Notre Dame or Patrick Ramsey QB Tulane

54-Saleem Rasheed LB Alabama or Ryan Denney DE BYU

67-Sheldon Brown CB South Carolina , Dennis Johnson DE Kentucky, or Will Overstreet DE Tennessee

85-Rocky Calmus LB Oklahoma or Rashad Bauman CB Oregon

100-Martin Bibla G Miami, Justin Bannan DT Colorado, or Rohan Davey QB LSU

    137-Freddie Milons WR Alabama

169-Jamar Martin FB Ohio State or Joaqiun Gonzalez T Miami

As you can see there may be more value and more holes filed by trading down.

    Steve Smith

This will tell you a little bit, but I'm going stictly off of seeing him when he was on national television. From what I've seen in mock drafts, nobody is giving him much consideration until at least the 5th or 6th rounds.

    2-Peppers

    34-Levar Fisher

    67-Sheldon Brown

    100-Rohan Davey

    137-Freddie Milons

As you can see for some strange reason I prefer the locals. I'd give L. Smith one year to see if he can be as successful here as he was at Miami, so I wouldn't draft an RB. There will be some available next year anyway. I like Davey, I was pretty impressed with how he performed at LSU overall. At the very least he provides a good backup to TinkyWinky and could probably compete for the starting job. I'm sure yall think I'm crazy.

I agree with you 100%. I have been thinking the same thing. Would be no pressure on him to play this year or possibly next. Let him work on his skills for year.

2 Julius Peppers DE North Carolina - It's really him or trade this pick, regardless of what he thinks he knows about Fox's defense.

34 Mike Pearson OT Florida 6-6, 305 5.08 - Best value. Move Stussie over to the right tackle spot. We've got two good bookends now, have Nesbit and Terry/James/Jordan flanking Mitchell. Not bad.

    67. Joseph Jefferson CB Western Kentucky 5-11, 205 - I admit that I'm salivating over this small school prospects measurables, but he was productive at his level, and plays the position like Jammer does. He's more comforatable in press coverage.

    100. Jarrod Baxter FB New Mexico - Might as well get the best blocker out there while he's there.

    137. Travis Stephens RB Tennessee 5-7, 190 4.50 - Smith and Stephns make for a fair slam and slash combo.

Now we've got a line, and a FB for the running game. We've got a power back and a cut back/slash back, a physical corner with speed, and a franchise DE.

A lot of risk in these 5, I admit, and we're hoping our recievers will be enough to carry us, at least until next year. But it's a start.
