Lets have a weigh-in and then make some bets.:)
I don't like diets but I like to bet.

Well, I've got to drop 10 to get there. I'm 225.

Really, it's this damn office. Once this knee gets all the way better, I'd like to get back to playing ball and tennis and such. But this office keeps me tied to this computer.

Denials not the only river in Egypt, Pipe. It's this board that's keeping you tied to that computer.:)

  4. Hmmmm. How 'bout a weigh in at Larry's tonight? Since I can lose 5 pounds in one "sitting," I think this is one bet I can win. We should have math come up with some formula though instead of just going on total pounds lost or sly and I would have an unfair advantage.

cut down on the carbs...especailly at dinner. you know the atkins thing right? You don't need to be that drastic but just remember that if your body is burning fat for energy..it won't store fat. Stay away fom all foods the get turned into fat easily...all sugars, white breads, some fruits, potatoes. There is something called the GCI which is an index which measures how easily foods get turned into fat.

The latest studies are showing that intense interval training is much more effective at burning fat than the standard 45 minute cardio workout. I've been doing it for a couple of weeks and it seems to work.. What you want to do is max out your heart rate for one minute...then rest (60% max heart rate) for two minutes...then back up to you max for minute and so on. What this will do is number one burn more calories and two increase your metabolism. Doing one 30 minute interval workout can raise your metabolism for the next 48 hours. I've noticed a substantail increase in my metabolism. The gliders and excercise bikes don't work well for this (at least not for me)..you need to run or do the stairmaster/step mill.

at different cardio zones (% of max heart rate) your body gets its energy from different sources (carbs, fat, muscle glycogen, and muscle). You max the fat source by doing high intensity intervals.

The latest issue of Muscle Media has some good detail of interval training in it....so does Muscle Fitness

you can have your 14 beers per day and still lose yoyr weight....you just need to realize that those 14 beers have roughly 5 grams of carbs each...so there you have 60....you can have about 20 more for a day...choose wisely.

Another thing with alcohal...if it is in your blood, your body will burn it for energy over fat....
