Lets make this somewhat realistic. If you were your teams GM and the trade deadline what deals if any would you try to do. What position do you think needs shoring up.

For my Phillies I look at their CF as a weakness. Marlon Byrd was looked at as the leadoff hitter and everyday CF. He struggled woefully and was sent down. He has since look to have gotten his act together but still I would look for a CF. Doug Glanville is older than dirt so no thanks. I would inquire to the Milwaukee Brewers about the availability of Scott Podsednik. The Brewers will never pay him squat when his contract comes due and the Phillies can offer them 2 good minor leaguers. Also I would try to add a middle reliever to lessen the load a little for Todd Worrell, Scott Madson, Roberto Hernandez and others.

as the braves gm, i'd be happy that everyone is almost healthy. i'd be willing to listen to offers, but don't really see myself doing anything. the ramirez situation might cause me to want another lefty on the staff, but i'd wait that out a little longer.

I'd go ahead and fire myself since George is going to do it eventually anyway.

I agree with two-six. The Braves are getting healthy so you just now see what you've got. I would listen to offers, but I wouldn't jump the gun. Maybe a little bullpen help. I would say help off the bench, but right now you have Green, Marrero, Perez, Garcia, LaRoacha or Franco. That isn't bad.

The injuries early in the season, in a way, is making Atlanta a better team because they are a deeper team. I just hope that Nick Green dosen't get cold since his time has been reduced with the return of Giles. I would see if Atlanta could get another bat off the bench, I think we'll see less and less of LaRoache as we head toward the playoffs. Good glove, but inexperienced at the plate. Atlanta's best bench guys IMO are Green, Perez, Marrero/Thomas and DeRosa.

Setup role also has me worried. Reitsma just dosen't look good at times. Alfonseca, Gryboski, probably looks as good as anybody in the pen.

I also wish that Atlanta will keep the rotation just as it is. I know haviung another lefty is important but the staff is starting look better with each time out on the mound. Ortiz look like he could make another run at 20 wins this season.

damn, i forgot the most important thing i would do. chipper would be taking balls at first pre-game EVERY day until he is ready and feels comfortable. then, its his job with green going everyday at 3rd. at least unless he tails off bigtime.

Forget being realistic. I'd go back in time and pretend the Richie Sexson trade never happened.

I would get rid of Nomar, shift Pokey to SS and see if Brett Boone was available. I would also see what it would take to get Johnson from Arizona, but would not give up very much to get him.

Braves need at least 1 more solid starting pitcher. John Thompson ain't worth a shit right now. If he's not in the minors they need to find one elsewhere. I like the prospects of Chipper at first. Nick Green at 3rd could be good, but I think I'd find me another bat for left field.

why would you want Boone? Bellhorn is having a much better season. maybe Boone would step it up a bit hitting in front of Manny and Ortiz, but not worth inheriting his salary, IMO.
