Well if we're going on record, ink me in for Palmer.....and please, no more talk about the Heisman.

He's perfect for this offense. He's a QB and we don't have one.

No really, this guys got the head to go with the arm. I'd take him with the first pick without hesitation. OT #2, WR #3, RB#4

I'm with you on Palmer Y2. This year he has finally put it all together. And he was not as bad the last two years as people try to make out...he was just inconsistent and tended to try and make something happen when he should have thrown it away or taken a sack, which led to interceptions. But overall, he still put up solid numbers. So he is far from the one year wonder many would have you believe.

As for our 2nd and 3rd round picks, We need a WR that is capable of coming in and contributing right away, and if we wait past round 2 we won't get that. So I think if we go QB in 1, we will go WR in 2. In the 3rd, I look for either a TE or RB (I prefer TE), with the other taken in the 4th.

I don't think we go OL before our 2nd 4th round pick. I believe much of our newly created cap space will go to upgrading the OL with solid veterans. Fortunately, this year we have enough space and a high enough pick to address most of our offensive needs. We'll probably still have depth issues, but at least we should be able to field a competitive starting unit on both sides of the ball.

Actually, I just posted on another thread that I would love to see Chow here. They run a pro-style offense so I think he could make the adjustment. I just wonder if he would be willing to come and if we will even pursue him.

yes, and you and Piper and several others have gone on record a good number of times stating we need a QB in the first - whats your point?

To answer your question - The only reason I fell Fasani should be not only the only young QB on this team and the only one carried over is a simple answer. He is the best athlete & his weakness is easier to correct vs Winky or an aging Peete.

Edit... oh yes the rest of your question... we don't need to waste that pick on a young QB when we better improve the WR slot and a line to block... and having King in here, well he is kinda young...

Weinke has nothing to do with the equasion. Weinke will be gone due to the cap, and his own accuracy problems.

The question is can Fasani be counted on to be a quality backup quickly, as in next year. My answer is no.

The kid only started 7 games his whole college career, and it shows.

Don't disagree about WR being a black hole of a need. And for the record, my postion is we need a first day (first 3 rounds) on a QB, not neccesarily first round. IMO, though, the team will take one in the first round, regardless.

If we can't get Rogers, Leftwich or Manning then I would trade down just a bit and pick up a another pick. I think we could get Andre Johnson 5-10 range. Someone will probably come up to get a Joseph, Kennedy or even Roy Williams.

I agree with Piper though, if we can't get on of those 3 and we stay at our pick, we might just reach for Palmer there. Larry Johnson or Roy Williams would be considered too.

Carson continues to look good - but I still have my reservations.

Larry Johnson has absolutely EXPLODED the last half of this season and IMO, will end up in the top 15 area.

Reservations about Palmer are focused in his head. Is he smart enough to proccess info quickly at this level, and will he keep the good attitude he displayed this year while winning, when we will likely struggle with him here for a while at least.

Vision, IMO, he has. I think he's resolved that this year in watching him play a few times. Obviously he has the arm, and the touch and accuaracy he has made tremendous strides. He has the pocket presense to make mags happy. He has the legs to keep Sandy quiet (I think you may be suprised with his 40 time, Shocker, the kid can move). He's big and tall, so he can see the field.

So it's whether he has those "intangibles" to win is the question.

    Yeah, LJ is cool.

Hurney was on the wrap-up show yesterday talking about taking talent vs. need.

He said he's seen alot of guys get burned in the first rounds reaching for need. I think we'll be taking our high picks based on talent, barring they are DE's or LB's. Hurney said as much yesterday.

And I don't see us taking a round one QB, unless the best available athlete is a qb.

one player is not going to make a difference on this offense. heh...all of our skill positions lack skill. at this point i'd rather see us explore some trade packages and pick up a handful of picks and/or a player or two thrown in for good measure. besides, it seems everything started to go downhill with the gilbert deal, maybe we can undo the jinx if we get some of those selections back now. i wonder if minnesota is interested in building up a another franchise with a load of draft picks again?
