We will be at least 3rd in the draft. There's a few more teams with just 3 wins, but I got to think they'll eek out at least 1 more.

Houston takes Charles Rodgers. Cinci takes Leftwitch (dammit).

Right it down. We take a QB.

and we'd still be fucked, 3rd is too early to take the next available QB valuewise.

Value won't matter. It should, but it won't.
So then we'll have to reach for a WR in the second as well, after buying a vet. Which means reaching for Jacobs, who I don't like, or Lloyd, who is the least complete of the big time guys.
A corner in the third, so as to not neglect our D, and then we've really not scratched the immediate needs that big. We really just have to start spending this March and hope for the best, which means we're going through the same cycle.

Much as we want to cling to this whole "build exclusively through the draft" jazz, we will never have enough decent picks to do it, and when a few more bad decisions are made, and the team gets mildly better and regresses again, we'll be starting over again. And again. And again.

We are going to have 3rd pick and not even to get either player we really need. That sucks. If we cant get a deal for Leftwich or Rodgers, I'd think about trading down. Unless Manning comes out.

If Eli stays in, I hope Carson Palmer's year wasn't a one hit wonder. Because that will be the pick, IMO.

Hell, after last week, Palmer is getting Heisman hype. He beats Notre Dame, it may be his, getting all the West Coast votes out of the media.

    Maybe Cinci takes him instead.

We could easily have the #2 pick. I doubt Cincy will win 3 more games.

Houston could win another. If Cincy wins 2 more, one against us, and Houston wins one, and we lose all, would we get the #1?

Don't worry, we won't win again this year. We ARE the worst team in the league.

Hopefully that will get us something next year, I'm thinking Leftwich or maybe Palmer.

    no no no...

Your seeing it all wrong, we win 2 of the last 4. get some hope for next year. get 2-3 decent FA's, and the #7 pick. we f-up the picks. one FA goes to jail, another gets hurt, and one just decides he hates Carolina Blue and quits. we start the year with 2 wins and then loose 14 straight.

I see us ending up with that damn #3 pick too. Which of these QBs is our guy at #3 (if any)???

Ragone – All the experts apparently see him as a sure-fire franchise stud in the NFL.
Palmer – Climbing the carts . . . Very impressive yesterday.
Manning – I say HELL no . . . His TD/INT ratio is as bad as Wallace. Judging by yesterday Eli joins Seneca as an undrafted FA next year if he comes out!
Speaking of undrafted FAs next year, I think there will be some good possibilities. Due to the flood of quality potential QBs coming out a guy like Greene, Schaub, Rassmussen, or Blankenship could go undrafted. No, I don’t expect us to ever be lucky enough to have our QB of the future be an undrafted FA (only the Rams are that lucky). Surely we can at least find a young guy that could learn the ropes in a year then consistently do for us what a healthy Peete did in the first 3 games. Manage the game and NOT THROW PICKS! How late into the draft could we drop before having to spend a pick on that game manager?

Here is a list of relatively accurate guys who can apparently manage a game well enough to at least throw twice as many TDs as INTs. Use your football intuition and expertise to rank the top Carolina prospects.

    (TD/INT, Yds, com avg)
    1). Kingsbury (Texas Tech) 41/10 4455 68.1%
    2). Blankenship (Eastern Washington) 30/7 3243 59.9%
    3). Boller (California) 27/9 2630 53.9%
    4). Banks (Iowa) 25/4 2369 60.4%
    5). Rassmussen (San Diego) 24/1 2473 60.9%
    6). Gesser (Washington State) 24/8 2696 59.4%
    7). Lorenzen (Kentucky) 24/5 2208 57.0%
    8). Schaub (Virginia) 23/6 2502 68.1%
    9). Fife (Oregon) 23/7 2566 55.0%
    10). Dorsey (Miami) 22/9 2428 54.4%
    11). Roethlisberger (Miami OH) 20/9 2763 65.4%
    12). Greene (Georgia) 20/8 2394 56.5%
    13). Navarre (Michigan) 20/6 2339 5.7%
    14). Rivers (NC State) 18/9 2954 62.4%

Personally, I like guys like Rassmussen Banks Lorenzen and Kingsbury who all have ratios through the roof! I’m hoping we can trade down with a middle of the pack team who’s horny for Kennedy or Joseph because they are definitely going off the board in the top 10 or 12.

BTW - Those stats do not include this weeks games.
