...I saw the same info on ESPN.
Remember the franchise tag you posted a little while ago, well how does Vick signing in Philly for 1.6 with a 2nd year team option for another 5.2 work if Philly gets rid of him?
Can Philly bail on the 2nd year and trade him to any team that is willing to take over the balance of his contract?
What if Philly honors both years and is stuck with a free agent? Is Vick unrestricted and open for all offers?
If so (assuming he gets a chance on the field and proves his value) would it not be a good business move to pawn off Vick prior to week 10 of his 2nd year to a team that needs a QB?
Lets see, sign Vick for low money and sell him for big money.....hhhhmmmm, I think we've been down this road before.
    Only time will tell.

I think they can franchise him to keep him if they don't use the option but it makes little sense to pay the extra money to do it in that order, and they can franchise him after the 2nd year if they exercise the option.

Depends on when the option occurs, if it occurs after or on the 1st day of the next league year they could trade him to someone else who would then have the choice to pay the option or let him go, if it occurs before (I'm not sure if they are allowed by the league to have the option occur before then) then the eagles would have to decide to pay him the money to keep him before trading him.

yes he would be a free agent but he could still be tagged by the team, unless the contract has stipulations that apply to franchising tied to an incentive like playing time.

Week 10 is after the trade deadline, but yes they could do that.

It will, but the deal is pretty low risk for the eagles and the Vick's agent did well to get an option that size it's not so big that the Eagles will refuse to pay it if he does well.

OK, I was wrong about week 10 for trading....thats in my Fantasy league. But in week 10 or week 4 my point still stands, if Vick gets a chance and does well then he can be a valuable commodity for future draft picks.
originally you Pres. replied to one of my posts with a different answer. No slander brother, I"m the class clown, but I'm not stupid until the Jaeger kicks in ( very soon ) lol.
So who has the upper hand now? Does Vick if he stays on the sidelines and collects millions? Or is it Philly holding the trump card?
    Thanks for the info, Fishpal

I'd be willing to bet that Fox's refusal to rule Vick out was due to the fact he'd rather answer those stupid questions than the local medias stupid other questions about the team. I think he toys with those idiots.

I'm still trying to figure out why Philly was so high on Kolb. His arm is an absolute noodle.
