There is no fair way to compare Jake & Weinke

    Weinke had no O-line
    Weinke had no RB
Weinke had Moose & Walls both laid down on him on field and in the media instead of stepping up as VETS Moose was #1 WR

Jake had a power RB that through most of his Super Bowl season was the offense
    Jake had a solid O-line
Jake had Steve Smith and a somewhat iffy MOOSE that came around late in season

Weinke's only option was to pass and hope some of his attitude WR &TE would hold on to the ball
Jake handed off to Davis for most of the season and did not have to pass

Now Jake has to pass, WR's are about the same as Weinke had
    Moose #1 WR
Jake's O-line is now about the same
Jake's RB's are about the same

So this season is a more fair comparison of Jake & Weinke [IMO]

Any Q B can take you to the Super Bowl if the offense has talent
Vince Farigoma [sp] Craig Morton Mark Rypkein Doug Williams Ken Anderson
All one year wonders in the Super Bowl

It's what a QB can do when the talent is thin that makes him a QB

Weinke did not get a fair shake and never will as a Panther

Sad thing is with the same type players JAKE is now getting the same treatment and questions from fans

You forgot to mention how inaccurate Weinke's throws were to wide open recievers.

And Jake's have been how much better ?

Also forgot to mention that the great MOOSE dropped several as the #1 WR
And was 2nd for the season behind Hayes with catches and yards
And BYRD was only 93 yds behind MOOSE on just 37 catches
That's sad when your #1 lays down on a rookie QB

Also Weinke had 11 TD's and 15 ints for the whole season

Jake already has 7 td's and 10 ints and season is barley half over with that ratio Jake will have 20-24 ints for season

Hard to be accurate with Moose as your #1 no deep threat, or seperation.

This season will show how accurate Jake is with the same type of players.

Apples and oranges. That is what you are comparing. Even matching the talent level of this team and the 2001 does not make for an accurate comparison. The system is different as is the level of competition. Debate which is better all you want but you cannot reach any valid conclusion.

And as far as Weinke not getting a "fair" shake. Life ain't always fair. He wasn't this staff's choice. They might have got a little better look at him then you did at the preseason games you saw, like maybe every day at practice. They picked their (our) man to run their (our) offense. Weinke is the adopted red headed step child from the prior failed marriage.

True its not the west coast offense now,But the passes are just as short no deep threat without Smith.

And the pass protection is just as bad

Several QB's made it to the Super Bowl with talent on offense

    Harder to do without talent!

So when the seasons over , none of this will be Jakes fault B/C of injuries!

Injuries should not matter [Life ain't always fair] and injuries are part of NFL

I would like to see Weinkie have a chance but I do not think you can say Jake is just as bad as Weinkie. We know Jake can get it done in the right circumstances. We do not know that about Weinkie. Plug Weinkie in with last year's team and we might have not even made the playoffs. Jake led us back from behind late in games several times. I am not sure Weinkie could have done that.

I would like to see Weinkie go somewhere that the coach are willing to give him a chance. Playing Peete instead of Weinkie in 2002 and keeping Peete ahead of him on the depth chart since then is pretty weak IMHO. I am just not willing to make the leap to say Jake and Weinkie are about equal.
