Can build a championship team using defense, so can the Panthers.

We've got alot going for us defensively. We could use a playmaker or 2 in the secondary.

    We need a new offense.

    We're getting close.

Was 21 points (counting the PATs) the most ever scored in a superbowl by the defense?

after watching this game I think I wouldn't mind as much now if we pick up Trufant or Newman in the draft.... furthermore how much long until Dwight Smith is a FA... he's a Nickle I wouldn't mind giving a shot to start

Beating the Bucs is going to take good line play. That's where the Raiders lost.

Anyone notice how the Bucs line gave Johnson all day to throw in the playoffs? And how effective he was because of it. A lot of credit should be given to a much maglined offensive line for shutting down the Raider, Eagle, and whiner pass rush. Walker looked like a bust until these playoffs.

Agreed with Piper on the line play - Tampa's didn't look this good all season, until it "mattered".

Brain, I like Tampa's DBs too - but Rich Gannon reminded me a little of Neil O'Donnell, and all those completions to the Cowboys (specifically, Larry Brown) in the last Super Bowl the Steelers were in...

I'd be happy with Trufant or OL at 9.

no way NONE of his passes were punk... he got flat out picked by good D... the ONLY one that he had that could even begin to suspect he was throwing to the DBs was when he got hit and the ball got knocked outta line... TB did a great job with the Nickle scheme and rotating who was in zone and who was Man to man... and they honestly made their picks by going to the ball... not by bad passes

You will find no really good teams look "that good" until it matters. It's poker don't show your hand unless you have to. That's what gets fans of almost good teams so riled when a team that seems to just squeak by every win comes to town and blows away their over achievers. Shula was great at that.

The Bucs have three good receivers, a good receiving back, a good running FB, and a big TE. And a good line. So they're really not at all weak in any spot other than that Johnson's old.

Of course, the things I listed about the Bucs you used to be able to say about Oakland too.

The thing that chaps me is that both Jurevicius and Pittman were guys I wanted. Not that we'd have that success here anyway, but it would have been a start. Joe looks faster than you'd figure.

Joe would have been a good pickup, certainly. Both would be good here. But they are both probably better their in Gruden's system.

I'd like to think that's where we are heading. That's a ball control offense. Keeps that D rested.
