Then ....The Hawks have been in numerous conversations with teams about adding more first-round picks. They know they are going to struggle to lure top free agents to Atlanta this summer with all of their cap room and are trying to fill out the roster with young players.

That could open the door for a Hawks-Bobcats swap on draft night if Marvin Williams is available at No. 2. The Bobcats sound willing to part with the No. 5 and No. 13 picks for Williams.

I don't see the Bucks passing over Marvin Williams with the first pick, but if it happened I wouldn't mind trading up to try to get him.

What's the deal with the 1st rounder Toronto owes us? What year is it for, and is it lottery protected? We could package that with the number 5 this year and keep our 13th pick.

Its lottery protected. The Bobcats get it the first year the Raptors aren't in the lottery or 2009. I think its 2009, it may be 2007, but that one and the Cleveland/Phoenix one have me confused as to the expiration date.

Danny Ainge is methodically screwing that team up.

We're they in the conference finals a couple years ago?

For what its worth Ainge is denying it. Said no way he'd trade Pierce for that, but that may mean Pierce is gone. Ainge really isn't screwing the team, its a matter of they need cap room and to rebuild. They don't have the roster to do more than get them into the 1st round of the playoffs, if that. If they want to build a contender they need to restart.

    Does this rumor have 'Truth'?
ESPN Insider Chad Ford says one of the hottest rumors of the weekend was "The Truth" Paul Pierce to Portland for the No. 3 pick and Nick Van Exel:
On Tuesday, Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge shot that rumor down, telling Insider it was "ludicrous." Ainge said he had no intention of trading Pierce, especially for a draft pick. But Ford goes on to say the Celtics would benefit from the salary-cap reduction and could also potentially replace Pierce in the draft with that third pick.

Dave just sent me a URL to a Celtics Forum that has some interesting comments from a Boston fan's perspective.

I haven't read the fan stuff, but I have heard that Pierce is on the trading block.
