"they" are the powers that be in christianity -- popes, bishops, pastors, etc. there's no doubt in my mind that many, if not most, would not accept that jesus was anything not written in the bible.

Mary Magdalene was his special lady friend.

There's no way to take a religious story and to turn it into something scientific.

from the other thread about this.

So what happens if it is Jesus' body and there are no wounds?

I don't think there's any way, based on what is historically recorded & what is scientifically possible, to make more than a wild guess at whose bodies these are.

But suppose it was possible; & suppose it was indeed proven that yes, this is the body of the historical, biblical Jesus. That still wouldn't prove or disprove any claims about his divine origins. Nor would it have any appreciable effect on the validity of any of his philosophical teachings.

I'm inclined to label the whole thing as much ado about nothing.

Nor do I think it matters, in the general context of things, whether the biblical Jesus was married or not. It might matter to some hardcore Christians who believe (or fear?) that anything that involves sexuality is somehow unspiritual; but I don't see how it would affect what Jesus actually taught (apart from how people put their own 'spin' on what he taught).

Like I said in another thread in here - what if this is how it was meant to be? If we can scientifically prove that Jesus existed, wouldn't that make it kinda tough for people to argue that he didn't?

How many people argue that he didn't exist? It's whether or not he was more than just a dude with a cult following.

Finding his body would be more troubling than finding out he had a wife and child. He ascended to heaven and did not leave behind a body. I think tomb in the Cameron story that had Jesus' name on it was empty. That is directly mentioned in the bible so finding his body would be huge.

There is no way to prove whose tomb it was. It seems unlikely to be the tomb of Jesus since the tomb in question is more in line with someone of a higher social status. It does make me wonder if wonder if this might be what the templars found....

Why? This baffles me. Why is procreation bad when the same crowd beats the "life is precious" drum an anti-abortion rallies. Contradiction?
