With the recent news and movies claiming that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalin and had a child it poses and interesting question. What affect would this claim, if true, have on Christianity?

It certainly would not preclude Jesus from having resurrected and ascended. It would not preclude him from being God incarnate. Jesus was born of a normal human woman so one would assume his body capable of producing a normal human offspring. Prehaps the bigger question is what would this mean to the sinless nature of Christ. Sex and procreation inside the bounds of marriage is not a sin. It is however unsettling to think of Jesus engaging in such carnal things.

I do not think that Jesus ever did marry or have children and I really doubt it could ever be proven. I think it would have been stated in the bible and discussed had this every happened. Regardless though I do not see how this would shake the very foundation of Christianity since it would not disprove any fundamental tenants of the faith.

I am sure they would. What specifically about it would be the biggest problem though.

The fact that the Bible never documents such things.

I am not aware of it specifically denying it either. At first it sort of ruffled my feathers too because it sort of implies that Jesus was just another man and not the son of God. Upon further thought though why would that make him less God?

the main problem is that it's not what they told you. anything that says something different from what they have been saying will make people wonder what else they didn't get right.

Who is they? If you can not point to chapter and verse to back you up on something then you are just speculating.
