If He wasn't perfect, He isn't who He said He was.

I'll buy that. I figure that sinless or not, to take human form is to be in some way imperfect. You know He's not perfect when he asks God why He's forsaken Him.

God the Father forsook him because he was carrying our sins. He took our punishment. Jesus did not go to the cross to pay for his own sins.

I guess I don't believe God actually forsook Jesus. We're not going to agree on this, but keep your sniping to yourself.

The book of Hebrews does a pretty good job of explaining it.

God's love is the motivation, not the mechanism, for salvation.

    Agreed.

    Examples?

I'll concede there's little evidence to confirm or deny any romantic involvement between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. However, the road block I keep running into when following that premise is this: Why would He hide it? Marriage was perfectly legitimate within that culture for a rabbi. Marrying her would only serve to enhance His earthly ministry, not hinder it. To conceal a sexual relationship completely detracts from His character and behavior patterns, even if one doesn't believe He was God incarnate.

Discarding those specifics can be just as slippery a slope.

The bible is full of passages that condemn fornication in both the old and new testament. The idea that Jesus committed this sin would be contrary to the whole gospel message.

Jesus exemplified despair when He asked God why he'd been forsaken. If he was perfect, he'd know and accept everything God gave Him to do. I also felt like Jesus ripping the merchants was a bit of a transgression. I'm not the most studied person in the world on this stuff, but I feel what I feel about it, and the more I see people wrapping themselves around the axle over minute details and using their interpretation to separate themselves from other Christians, the more I realize that's not what God wants at all. The only message that means anything is to love people. Right action is always the result of loving people and ourselves. If any controversial detail contained in the Bible can shake your faith in God, I don't think you ever really had faith in God. That's not my attempt at debating the issue. That's just how my beliefs work.

I don't personally agree with that. I believe He was limited when He took human form, but not imperfect.

That is a verse I wrestled with for a long time. But again, I think the limitations of human form offer an adequate explanation.
