If Doh must go...

Then who takes his place?

I see and hear people saying Doh must go, so who should take the reigns at UNC?

May I suggest some of the best young coaches in the NCAA...

might as well look there because all of UNC's young people are to busy getting paid in the NBA.

 

There are some solid coaches out there who were passed over because they didn't attend UNC. Since when does that make you qualified just cause you went to skool there? In that case, Marty Nessley will succeed Coach K in a couple of years.

My vote is take em out now before these guys go and no one wants to play for us anymore. I would consider, in no particular order:

1. Bobby Lutz - he's a hell of a coach, and his recruiting ability is great but untapped at UNCC.

2. Rick Majerus - Deano wanted him. And I would never go against Dean. But Dickhead Baddour did and you see what we get.

3. Tom Izzo - Can he be pulled from MSU? I think so. ACC ball is where it's at.

4. Coach Self, what's his first name? I forget, anyway, see above.

5. And last but not least. MJ...... Why not?

I dont think you'll get Bill Self. He already moved on from Tulsa, and though I know Heel fans think I'm just hating, he has a better deal going at Illinois. He's recruiting about as well as you can and he plays to a packed house of intense fans - as you Heels probably saw during that drubbing.

Izzo - maybe. I dunno. He likes it up there I heard.

Lutz - Only if you threw obscene money at him. Seriously. He's settled down at his alma matter. You'd have to give him well over a million to pull up and enter that pressure cooker. Plus - what about all the bad mouthing your fans give him?

Majerus - I've liked a lot in the past but he's been really quiet lately. Plus, you'd have to keep a deli tray on the sideline at every game

 

The thing is, we can throw a wad of money at Lutz. I think he needs to be coaching on a larger level. He can do a major conference and succeed. I don't think he would turn it down if they offered it to him. They won't but I think he should be considered.

 

Don't know if Momma and the girls would like moving from the new home the Lutz's just built.

Obscene money? All coaches' contracts today are that. It's difficult to believe that just 26 years ago when UNCC went to the Final Four, Coach Rose made $27,000 to be head coach AND athletic director. And Lutz is now in the $350-400M range. We don't even need to discuss Coach K's salary!

and NA - since when are all these Carolina fans talking bad about Lutz? 99 out of 100 couldn't begin to tell you who the UNCC coach is .

If Doh goes, Dick Baddour will do another stellar job of hiring for sure. You know, he's the one that deserves more of the blame of the Tar Heels' failures.

 

Carolina should have thrown a big shitload of money at Rick Pitino 3 years ago. He loves money, and he's a great college coach. I can't remember if he would have been available, but he was as good or better than Roy. Sucked in the NBA, but the NBA sucks anyway. Carolina had to have a Carolina guy.

In Doherty's defense, I remember the first 3 years Coach K was at Duke. I, me, said "this guy sucks". Even my dad, a Duke fanatic kept saying "I don't know about ol Coach K".

I think he's got one more year. If they still suck next year, it's Doh. If he gets a good recruiting class and all the freshmen come back, and they still suck and don't make the tournament- he's gone.
