It would be nice to have a veteran guy with maybe one or two years left to fill in so that if Salley/Wilson/Cooper/Newton all fail to show more than they have in the past we have an option.

Beason filled Melton's spot when he signed...or you could mean that spot on ST....maybe?

Probably so, I just feel like Wesley has some untapped potential. Maybe it is just because he was our draft pick....

We might as well take our chances with Wilson or some unknown guy. We've tried Wesley already. If we didn't consider him at safety before, we're probably not going to now, despite what we have at the position. Harris, Salley and Cooper are the top 3 safeties, and lets hope some camp scurb can play lights out this month to earn a roster spot.

Don't think we'll have to worry about Wesley, he was traded to the Pats for a draft pick today.

How do you get a draft pick out of Dante Wesley?

Especially from a team that already has a countless number of scrub corners.

Quick hits• The Chicago Bears traded defensive back Dante Wesley to New England for an undisclosed 2008 draft pick. The Panthers had expressed interest in Wesley.

He spent his first four seasons with Carolina before joining the Bears last season. Wesley saw most of his action on special teams with both teams, but has played cornerback and has the size (6-foot-1, 211 pounds) to play safety.
