Panthers | Battle For No. 2 - posted at KFFL (http://nfl.kffl.com)
15:51 PT: Jay Glazer reports for SportsLine.com although WR Isaac Byrd appears to be the early favorite to be the Carolina Panthers No. 2 WR, team sources say WR Steve Smith is quietly the favorite inside the organization. Byrd is expected to be fully recovered from his mini-camp foot injury in time for training camp.

Wow, Jeffers not even mentioned. I can't help but to think we're in big fucking trouble gentlemen.

Sounds like the foot injury, even if better, will come back to haunt us later in the season. Plan on running the ball a LOT! Moose and Walls will be blanketed and they'll stack'em up in the box to stop the run. As bad as I want to see some football, I'd rather just go into another offseason and continue building.

Jeffers has not been able to practice because of a knee injury that hindered him last year, and he might be released, according to SportsLine.com's Jay Glazer. Isaac Byrd and Steve Smith are expected to compete for the No. 2 receiver job.

Free agent WR's worth a flip still available?

Jackson, who reminds me of Moose. But Meat said he'd already been offered more than we would be able to.

Darney Scott. Those are the two names floating around here.

Given our record of signing washed up has beens, maybe we can land Steve LArgent.

  6. My guess is that we'll go to camp with what we have and see how our current guys shake out. Right after the final cuts you can expect to see some interesting names hit the waiver wire as there were a number of wr's drafted this year, which usually means there may be a few quality cuts. If we really need a wr, and we probably will, then I'd expect us to pickup one right before the season begins. If I remember correctly that's what we did the year that we picked up Byrd and he's done well for us.

Even without Jeffers, I'm more concerned about our CB's than our WR's.
