I steal music, I buy music, and music would be better if you did too.

I am driving down Fairfax listening to the Descendants, a punk band who wouldn't mind if I downloaded their song for free. I paid $9.99 for this cd pm itunes. I park at The Grove and go into the farmer's market to get some hummus and perhaps some flowers. i carry my ipod. I instantly click over to a Black Eyed Peas song. I downloaded this song for free. I think listen to a slew of no name bands that are just signing onto major labels. Thank you bittorrent for these too. Then comes The Queers, another cd I paid for. In fact I bought their entire collection for around $50.

Music on the radio is completely derivative crap and we have all known that for a long time. The only decent band I can find that is even close to being mainstream is The Streets. It is a shame that i can only listen to bands that were together before I was born if I want to find anything even remotely interesting. Not cheesy classic rock but good punk rock.

Punk is gay now. Blink 182 and Sum 41 nailed the final nails in the coffin of punk. They will be eaten by rats for it. By paying for punk rock on itunes i create a user profile. I, in a small and limited way, show the labels there is a market for music with feeling. There is a market for The Descendants, Misfits, Black Flag, Danzig, The Stalin and tons of others awesome bands.

Buy good music, steal the rest. I may like the Black Eyed Peas...doesn't mean i want to encourage its proliferation.

Most "music" made since rap came out no one should have to pay for anyway.

 

No shit - other than a few female vocalists, there hasn't been much since the 90's started worth listening to, IMO.
