Please wish me luck, I joined Peak Fitness over the weekend. I have finally hit rock bottom. A Dr. visit 2 weeks ago let me know that my weight has reached the 300 limit. I have a 1 yr old son I would like to see grow up. Any encouragement will be welcomed.

don't quit. you have to give it at least two months before going to the gym becomes habit. you joined peak, since they have multiple locations, use them...the change of scenery will help keep you from getting bored

BTW, this time of year the gyms are packed...by March it will have died down...don't quit because they are packed, it is only temporary.

If possible, get a workout partner. It sounds like you have been away for a while and they will make it much harder to quit going. You will be suprised how many excuses you will start making for yourself not to go (until it's a habit, then you will be looking forward to the workouts). A partner will help you get over the hump. Also, do not neglect the cardio workouts. Don't just lift weights.

My advice to anyone joining a gym is this: Goal 1 is to keep going. On those days when you're not motivated, go to the gym but allow yourself to not do anything or just do minimal. It makes things a lot easier. Often, you'll end up getting into it once you're there. If not, at least you're still in the game. Every missed gym day is a risk to your goal, and the first one is often the one that ends it all.

I was at 282 back in May of last year, and now am at 235. I am unable to exercise or go to a gym, so had to do it with diet alone. Low carb works great for me. Do what you gotta do dude. The child should be motivation enough. good luck.
