That a race is on to Grab Ellis Johnson and release Giblet.

Giblet stated after the Browns game that 'I'm 32 but feel like I'm 57'.

I think Giblet is going to be out of the NFL today.:)

Either that or trade Arizona for the draft rights to Wendell Bryant.
I'm fine with either move. He's worth the 1st we'd spend on a DT next year. Capwise, his contract would fall between Freeney ($1,372,000) and Stallworth (1,208,300) which if I'm not mistaken we have now.

I know about every one is on the WR in the 1st Round next year bandwagon, but this would about complete the overhaul of the defense. Getting a CB and re-signing Rucker would seal the deal on D. We could spend our FA dollars on a WR next year, draft a CB, and concentrate on the O line with our other picks.

Isn't there a rookie cap to consider with Bryant?

It'd probably be the same sign and trade deal as was discussed with Jammer earlier. Let the Cards sign him to a contract with no bonus that includes a clause that his contract must be renegociated should he be traded. That should get us around the rookie cap.

Come to think of it, I'd rather not. The Panthers are likely to get a top 5 pick again, and I don't think Bryant is worth it.

Jammer yes, Bryant no. And with all the questions about QB, I'd rather grab Leftwich next year than Bryant this year.

Maybe Rex Grossman will skip senior year.

Yeah - I don't even want to grab Jammer this year over the possibility of Leftwich next year.

If I had to pick between Leftwich or Jammer right now, I'd pick Leftwich.

    Well, given the way Bryant's been I don't think I'd give more than a package deal - a 2 and a 4, maybe. Not a #1.

But on paper, yes, he's the one gap player we need and probably was the best pass rusher of the class of 2002.

I'm really pissed off that in the day I haven't checked in, there's a Gilbert here and no Johnson.
