I love how all other teams' fans make it sound like the Yankees are the only team who signs free agents or makes trade dealine trades.

I never said they were the only team, but you'll have to admit that no other team in any professional sport has taken advantage of small market teams like the Yankees have during their history.

'Oh, we should do anything that the rules allow us to do because we want to be mediocre.'

Sorry. Let's try that bit of sarcasm again given the above edit.

I agree if you play with the rules that are in front of you, it is not their or anyone elses fault. There are many teams out their that make a killing but just don't put it back into their team.

    Muuuch better. OK.
I think you're trying to point out that the problem is in the league rules and not the Yankees themselves. Don't hate the playa, hate the game. The only problem with this theory is that the big market teams, especially the Yankees, and the MLBPA would never allow the rules to change which would bring parity to the league.
This is exactly why baseball is a dying sport. The NFL & NBA are growing and taking away the MLB fan base with ease because they're putting out a much better product that fans in every market can enjoy. I'm a huge baseball fan, but even I know that football is now the great American pastime.

I personally like both sports a lot. However, I would much rather go out and play baseball than watch it any day. Football on the other hand is more exciting. You don't have a team play 5 days a week every week for half the year. You get a huge build up for one game a week, and for teams trying to make it to the playoffs almost every game counts big time.

I do think MLB is trying to adjust their rules hence the changes made before the strike last year. It costs the Yankees a pretty penny now to hold the roster they do. But if they are sucessfull it pays off. I think other owners aren't as willing to take such a gamble.
