Colts. The AFC is too much of a cluster fuck to try and pick the rest.

Vikes. Might as well get on this bandwagon now. Nothing past that because - who really cares who the 6th best NFC team is?

Worse than expected: Pats under 11.5, Packers under 8.5. The Pats schedule is brutal and the Pack is a shell of their team of 2 years ago.

1) Vikings - This is more of a 'they suck less' pick than one of any true recongnition of power. Even without Moss, they have a decent offense.

1) Seahawks - There are all sorts of questions about attitude in Seattle. But the bottom line is that this is a veteran team who has been close too often. They will win the division this year because the grumbling means passion.

2) Cardinals - Call me crazy, but I think the worm finally turns for the Cards and Denny Green generates enough faith for them to compete

3) Rams - Lots of skill players yes. However Martz is still around. This is the year he wears out his welcome

4) 49ers - Well at least they get Steve Young in the hall of fame. Outside of that, nothing to cheer about in 2005

NFC East
---------

1) Eagles - Eagles still dangerous and TO controvery is really nothing this team cannot handle. The path to the NFC Championship still goes through the Linc

2) Cowboys - Right now I think Bledsoe gets some confidence back and has the players around him to find some glory before he hangs up the cleats. If Parcels can find some d in the big D the Cowboys may compete

3) Giants - If you can find 2 more Manning brothers to play on this team, they might do something.

4) Redskins - Danny Boy takes his team further into the abyss. Residents of Washington begin move to kick team out of DC area.

NFC South
----------
1) Panthers - Homer pick, but supported by many trade rags and my unbiased uncle in Los Angeles. I mean even without the Rose Colored glasses we have playmakers on both sides of the line. We have depth at the skill positions on offense. We have experiance and we have a good coaching staff.

2) Buccaneers - Yep, the bad boys of the bay are going to be mad and competitive again this year. I just have this feeling. Steussie will be the single reason they do not make the playoffs!

3) Falcons - Bucs actually benefit from the truth about the Falcons. New England showed that you commit to the run and force Vick to throw into the vulnerable passing lanes. You succeed this way because Vick is not really a QB. Falcons fall quickly

4) Saints - Only thing keeping the Falcons from the cellar is the wayward Saints franchise. They should be good enough to win, but the voodoo is too much.

1) Ravens - If Fassell gets Boller decent, Ravens will be tough to beat

2) Bengals - We are simply too programmed to think the Bengals cannot win. They can win and they may have enough to take this division should the Ravens offense struggle again

3) Pittsburgh - We are also too programmed to think the Steelers cannot lose. They screwed up the reciever corps. With Staley likely out, nobody can expect the Bus to last all season. And the odds are good that Big Ben is going to struggle. All that and an improved division means trouble in Iron City.

4) Cleveland - Why did they get the rock -n- roll hall of fame?

AFC West
----------
1) Chargers - Too many weapons on offense to discount this team because of doubt about Brees.

2) Chiefs - If the defense can hold teams to under 21 pts a game, the Chiefs could be very dangerous. IF!!!

3) Broncos - So add a bunch of underachieving Brown players to improve the defense? Get too cocky about your running game to weed out any depth. Yeah, Shanahan may be seeing his last year at Mile High

4) Raiders - Rags say Collins has the tools to light it up for 40 pts a game. That is true. Problem is that with his good days come bad ones. Randy does not like bad days, so he will complain. Team falls apart and cannot score crap. Defense gives up 40 pts a game. Raiders may struggle to win a single game this season

AFC East
---------
1) Jets - So I should put Patriots here. But dammit I am tired of doing that and sooner or later they have to stumble. Not far, but I think the Jets have enough tools to perhaps take the division

2) Patriots - At the very least the second best team in the AFC East

3) Bills - Is Losman the answer? Perhaps, but not this year

4) Dolphins - Should have cut Ricky to make a statement about loyalty and commitment. Miami suffers long season for lacking backbone

AFC South
-------------
1) Colts - Have a feeling they are the best team in the AFC this year. And that should surprise nobody

2) Jaquars - Best team nobody wants to watch. They could do real well in LA

3) Texans - Another year of improvement, but I think this division is too tough for them to win.

4) Titans - Dead men walking all over the field in Nashville.

Colts - 15-1 ( Look at thier schedule and it will be hard to find a loss. They could be perfect)

Seems like for once That Old COot named John is NOT in the minority. He too feels that if we are ever going to do it, this will probably be the year, unless disaster befalls us like it did last year. GOD FORBID !!! If we keep out cool and whip the faul-coons twice, we should have HOME FIELD. :bananalam

It looks like the AFC South is the only division folks got right. Interestingly only the AFC South and the NFC West had the same pecking order of teams at the end of 2005 as they did in 2004. The other six divisions had siginificant changes in power within the division.

The big disappointments for the season:
Philly
Jets
Baltimore
Minny looked like it for awhile, but pulled together a winning record
There were some expectations for New Orleans, but they got screwed by the whole Katrina thing.

The big surprises for the season:
Chicago
Tampa Bay (many talked like Gruden was done before the season)
Washington's late season tear, particularly against division opponents
Some might say Cincy, though they did go 8-8 last year.
