I am burnt out on Speed metal, rap, and the new U2. I have been listening to lots of french waltzes and stuff (that stuff with the accordion). Anyone know any good french folk dance performers.

I am also open to suggestions. I need something new.

 Interesting post...French waltzes, eh. Try Viennese waltzes. I can't recommend any specifics but, they be world renowned.

Don't know about french folk music per se, but Wayne Toups plays a mean accordion and some kickin' zydeco.

Try Wilco's last two albums - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and A Ghost Is Born. It festers in your head...

I don't know much about French waltzes......for just anything French I recommend the "Amelie" soundtrack.

If you want stuff that's just different whether the entire sound or lyrics, then here are my recommendations (and please keep in mind this is a small sampling of what I listen to-New Age Ambient, Darkwave, etc):

    Miranda Sex Garden
Black Tape For A Blue Girl
    Mythos
    Natacha Atlas
    Sheila Chandra
Tori Amos (listen to Little Earthquakes, Under the Pink, Boys for Pele only-those are her best albums)
Ani DiFranco (just listen to "32 Flavors")
    Jack Off Jill
    Mary Black
    Scarling
    Mediaeval Baebes
    Kazu Matsui
    Ember Swift
    Jane Siberry
Julia Fordham ("That's Life" is her best)
Grandadbob ("Waltzes for Weirdos" is fun) :laugh1:
    Gaelic Storm
Galactic Caravan (various artists, very good)
    Camelspotting (soundtrack)
A Might Wind: The Album (only if you like Christopher Guest)
Army of Lovers (Swedish '80s drag queen disco band)
    Dead Can Dance

If you want any more suggestions, lemme know. I hope you have a chance to listen to some of these musicians.
