thoughts on this? Guys who could've gone from 15 to 24:

15 Pittsburgh Timmons, Lawrence OLB 6-3 232 Florida State
16 Green Bay Harrell, Justin DT 6-4 305 Tennessee
17 Denver (from Jacksonville) Moss, Jarvis DE 6-6 251 Florida
18 Cincinnati Hall, Leon CB 5-11 193 Michigan
19 Tennessee Griffin, Michael FS 6-0 195 Texas
    20 N.Y. Giants Ross, Aaron CB 6-1 192 Texas
21 Jacksonville (from Denver) Nelson, Reggie FS 6-0 193 Florida
22 Cleveland (from Dallas) Quinn, Brady QB 6-3 226 Notre Dame
23 Kansas City Bowe, Dwayne WR 6-2 217 Louisiana State
24 New England (from Seattle) Meriweather, Brandon

Griffin and Moss? Griffin and Nelson? I figure Timmons had a very outside chance of being in there. Another wildcard? Harrell as an expectation that they could get a Jenx deal done, but I doubt it. Harrell wasn't good value.

seems like we had Branch low, as did everyone obviously.

    And:
thoughts on who the other 6 they could've taken at 25?
    I'm thinking
    Posluszny
    Weddle
    Olsen
    Miller
all I can come up with, and Hurney says Jarrett was on the top 7.

I bet anything that they anticipated Griffin being available at 25. Once he was gone, their safety hopes were dashed.

wouldn't have been unrealistic at all, especially if they were bypassing Nelson. Still surprised he went over BM and RN.

That's been my bet as what they were targeting with the trade down. I'm betting they were expecting one of the two to be there when they made the trade down.

I don't think they had Posluszny ranked nearly as high as the people on the board did. As a matter of fact considering his drop I don't think most NFL teams did either. Frankly I've not been the fan a number of you on here are because I don't see much growth upside in his game, but would've lived if he was BPA. I also felt Weddle was a reach here and have to assume they felt the same. I liked him, but I liked him a LOT more in the 2nd round. As far as Olsen and Miller go, we will NEVER draft a 1st round TE here. I've come to that conclusion.
I'm guessing they're basically making him Will Witherspoon 2.0

Say it was a seven deep list, that leaves 5 guys, including Beason and Jarrett, and two gone.

Maybe we passed on: Olsen, Jarrett (we know this), Meachum, Posluszny? Possibly even Ginn knowing we valued RS/WR.

I'd bet Merriweather and Griffin were the two gone.

What he said about Beason just made me recall the Morgan decision, and aggravated me once again.

I don't think we ever really considered Olson. We were looking LB/WR/S. Maybe DE. And he said "most" of our targets were still there.

    I'll list possibilities at each:

    Safeties
    1. Nelson. Likely the pick if we had to stay at 14. He's on.
    2. Merriweather. If the Pats don't pick him, he's likely a Panther.
    3. Griffin. A reach IMO, but the Titans already reached, so we'd never know. I don't think he's the pick over Beason if he's there.

    LB.

    1. Beason. Likely the top rated LB available at 14.
    2. Timmons. Went earlier, but he's raw and doesn't project anywhere but weakside. May not be on the list.
3 Poslunsky. He's got upside. Fast LB, not as athletic, but strong and can get stronger.

    WR.

    1. Meacham - Big. Fast. Productive. Jarrett's on the list, he is too.
    2. Jarrett - We know he's on the list.
    3. Bowe - I'm not so certain Bowe was, I didn't rate him that highly, though he does have size and big play ability.

    DE.

Moss. Only player rated here, really.

OK. I don't think they really look at Timmons, raw and less versatile. I thought it was a little early for Griffin, and he did say most of the guys were still available. edit. I orignally had Moss on here, but since Hurney said there are only two, I'll go with Bowe instead.

    1. Nelson S
    2. Merriweather S
    3. Beason LB
    4. Poslunksy LB
    5. Meacham WR
    6. Bowe WR
    7. Jarrett WR.

Well, that's 7 guys that we could be happy with, rated >14 for value, at position of need.
