I don't care so much about where he came from as his experience. Two winning seasons out of three with the Jets, and I'm writing off the failure in Cleveland because everyone loses in Cleveland. I feel like this team has to have a head coach with prior experience and there just aren't many of those around who are worth another try. Mangini is still a young guy, but he knows the NFL. He has shown that he can command a locker room and motivate players, but I believe he's also matured and will be able to control the team with a lot less yelling this time around. I don't always agree with what he says on ESPN, but he clearly has a strong football mind and an ability to communicate. The potential is there for him to be a quality head coach for the long-haul, much moreso than the usual names like Gruden or Cowher.

At least he's consistent, I was expecting lot's of vague articles about how people had lost faith in him and stories of his incompetence.

Beane's not gonna be interim, they're not gonna have one. He's been Hurney's cap guy since Hurney took over GM duties. He's a money guy. Won't be GM. No way in hell. Hopefully he can manage things more carefully and remain our specialist there. Considered very bright in that regard.

He doesn't motivate players, he runs them into the ground with grueling practices, which has been credited to the reason why his teams wear down in the season.

Not sure why we'd bring in a two time failure to energize a near catatonic fanbase. Well let's put it this way....it's all a moot point because it's just not gonna happen. And Im not sure where you get that he has a "much higher potential to be a quality head coach" than the two coaches you mentioned that are proven winners. That just makes no fucking sense.

When is the last time the Panthers signed someone to a good contract, though?

2006 Jets: Won 6 of their last eight.
2007 Jets: 3 of their 4 wins came in the last seven weeks.
2008 Jets: 4-4 over their last eight.
2009 Browns: Won their last four games.
2010 Browns: Lost 6 of their final eight.

I don't mind you being wrong, but please do not argue with me without checking your facts first. It wastes my time by forcing me to correct you, plus it's annoying.

Read my statement again: "The potential is there for him to be a quality head coach for the long-haul, much moreso than the usual names like Gruden or Cowher." Momentarily ignoring that Gruden & Cowher would never come here anyway, those guys clearly aren't going to stick around if they do take another coaching position. Mangini is both young and competent.
