I thought it was weird that HP was making a tablet, and now they're thinking that too.

Apparently dumping the hell out of these now. Discontinued, but at bargain prices. A tablet that supposedly costs $300 to make, and they're selling them for $99/16 gig, $149/32 gig.

That happened over the weekend and I finally noticed that last night, finally put work into getting one today. Tough to get one since people on all these deals websites are getting 5 at a time from tons of retailers.

But I finally got one, hopefully. Assuming nothing's canceled. Was going to buy an Android tab at the end of the year, but I can move that up for saving 50% on new technology. Plus the conversation seems to be that while WebOS is allright, that the porting websites will have this thing cracked for Android very soon.

My boss returned his this past weekend to Costco. He said Costco had pulled all the other ones off the shelves and were getting lots of returns. Still a good deal at the cost though it would seem. Seems Apple has kicked HP's ass in consumer electronics so HP is going to concentrate on the corporate market.

Apparently, staples had them for 49, for a few minds before sellout. Some retailers have just returned them instead.
Just such a good deal...otherwise wasn't looking for one yet

The thing about the HP Tablet is that it's using WebOS which was the Palm platform. It's nice but you have to get the developer and 3rd party community to back it to actually get ground to stand on.

or wait a few months and flash it with android.

I'm sure they'll find some sort of use for the platform longterm, so as an OS it isn't 'dead', but I do agree you have to hope for actual apps if you're buying in.

I dunno. I've heard it's great with some tweaks, but I'm not tied to it. I wanted the deal. They'll have Android on it soon enough and then I'll have options.

    you think? geez.

Anyway, this shittily run company took a lot more orders than it could possibly process, so it'll hold double my order's amount on my credit card for probably a week and then tell me I didn't get one.

If you can flash android or put linux on it, it's a good buy.

WebOS had a lot of potential, it was just never fully developed.

I think you can put Ubuntu linux on it now. Android soon.

I won't know if it is coming to me until Monday, according to the last thing I've read. That'd be a week and change after I ordered it. That's the earliest their computer system will show up (yikes) and I'll know whether they've canceled it. Otherwise, it has a ship date of yesterday with no updates.

Another site came up that was selling this AM, so I went in for another. Just in case. But it's drop ship from HP so I have no idea if I'll have any shot at that either.
