No. Foster could definitely be cut after this season if the team feels like D-dub and Shelton are enough to carry the load. His contract was a three year deal for $14.5 million, with $4.5 million of that coming in the form of a signing bonus. So his cap hit is as follows:

    '06: $2.5 million - $1.5 million in bonus, $1 million in base
'07: (if cut) $3 million in bonus
'07: (if kept) $5.75 million - $1.5 million in bonus, $4.25 million in base
'08: (if cut) $1.5 million in bonus
'08: (if kept) $6.25 million - $1.5 million in bonus, $4.75 million in base

If both were stellar and Foster got worse AND injured, then he's cuttable. Otherwise, Fox generally hasn't been that into cutting guys with multiple years left on their contracts if they're at all productive. Two years of unproductiveness and a fulyl vested bonus would make him a definite cut after 07.

Basically, cutting him after this year would save us $2.75 million against the '07 cap, while cutting him after that year would save us $4.75 million against the '08 cap.

    yep.
He's definitely a 07 savings. He's cuttable. I think it'd take something extreme to make him a cut that year, but I could be wrong.

Damn, is everyone in a hurry to cut Foster. I know the brother was injured alot but that's not what I try and focus on. I want to see more of that run he had against Philly in the playoffs.

I want to see him spinning through arm tackles for an extra 3 yards. The Panthers have proven we need multiple backs. In my eyes Foster is the man now. Everybody is high on Willaims now, myself included, but don't go tossing Foster on the scrap heap yet.

Give Foster 20 carries a game to keep him fresh and healthy.

Add about 10 to Williams and maybe throw Shelton in around the goal line.

    Run first, baby.
