The best Charlotte is ever going to be is a second tier team like the old Hornets were. That's just the reality of the NBA. There are five or six elite teams, and the rest are just schedule fillers.

As far as the team now, it's built to be an 8 seed. Until we have the flexibility to try to do some things so that we can maybe stumble our way up to a four or five seed, we're always going to be in that 7-10 seed spot.

I'd hate to lose Wallace(I'd much rather see Jackson go), but if we can get value for him, I think you have to make the deal.

    Not so fast. Per twitter:

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Charlotte-Portland talks for Gerald Wallace cooling, sources say. 'Cats pulling back, with one source suggesting MJ's getting cold feet.

Andre Miller is the key player coming from the Blazers

Watching Twitter is pretty cool. Following several sports talking heads and the Bobcats are trying to get as much as they can from Portland who "really want" Wallace. Rudy Fernandez's name is a player the Bobcats want in the mix

Maybe MJ wants to move Wallace because Wallace plays the 3. MJ played the 3 in his last return.......

fwiw, boozer and memhet okur both went to utah as free agents, so it seems weird to say boozer leaving utah is a sign of utah being slighted by a free agent.

also, first round has been 7 games for a while now.

the most important thing for the hornets right now is not to compete for the championship, but to fill the seats in the arena. the reality is that only a few teams over the last 20 years have actually won it all. not being one of those teams does not mean you have failed and are a waste of time.

making the playoffs is huge. it's national tv exposure and additional revenue. the more games you play, the more money you earn.

blowing up this team would result in more years of substandard play and fewer and fewer people caring about the team.

the san antonio spurs are a small market team -- in fact, they're the smallest market in the nba. yet somehow they continue to play great. sure, tim duncan is a #1 pick, but what about parker? 28th pick in the first round. ginobili was picked 57th. they draft incredibly well while charlotte has drafted absolutely abysmally.

so it can be done, you just have to do it right. personally, i don't know if charlotte has a good enough gm to really put together a team without somebody just handing them the keys to the lotto machine -- and even then they could mess it up.

Looks like the picked up two first round picks in the trade today. That will give them three first round picks this year, I think. This draft is probably not one of the better ones to come along but it at least gives them a shot at breaking out.

Traded Nazr Muhhammed for Mo Peterson and some other stiff. Hated losing Gerald Wallace but getting (2) 1st in an albeit a weak draft is nice
